Brand new for Baja Designs is our SAE certified light. This light is based on our Squadron series. While there are many visual characteristics that stayed the same the pattern, and circuitry is optimized in order to give our SAE light a street legal punch! We’ve put this light through rigorous tests to ensure that it would be an upgrade from most LED, HID, and Halogen factory fog lights.

Are these easily adjustable like the factory fogs for height when used with the pocket kit? I’d like to have the ability to aim them down a little because I’m lifted.

There will be some adjustment in the mounting system. It will vary slightly depending on application

Baja Designs will NOT be offering a Squadron SAE upgrade service. The upgrade requires the lights to be stripped to bare housings and built back up. This requires a lot of labor and would put a big delay in our production department. Upgrade pricing would be nearly the same price as retail price on the new lights.

Sorry for the dumb question. If we already have the lights as our fogs do we need to buy the kit again or just the pair of lights ?

    Not a dumb question

The Pair of lights is all you need. You can bolt them directly into your existing fog pocket mounts

Then you can use the included stainless mounting brackets for your existing Squadrons.

When I first saw this thread I got excited because when I saw "pre-order" I assumed there would be some kind of early bird, pre-order discount (other than the standard forum discount) but apparently that's not the case?

You guys make some sweet products and I was really looking forward to these but unfortunately the final price is more then I'm willing to spend on a set of fog lights, no matter how nice they may be. The original WC's were pushing the line price wise but these blow right past it. :(

Here is a question we received on another forum:

In the United States, fog lights require SAE J583 compliance in order to be used on any official roadway. Since fog lights are not mandatory on a vehicle, DOT doesn’t have a requirement for fog lights and has left this as well as many other requirements up to SAE to determine the standards. Through their expertise, Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) has come up with and agreed upon a standard for all US fog lights (J583) to adhere to. These standards require the lights to meet very strict guidelines to maintain the safety of motorists. The new Baja Designs' SAE Squadron meets these strict standards and can be used legally in all 50 states as a (J583) fog light.

That is why I was waiting on these but I wonder how much that really matters in my case?

KY doesn't have any type of inspections and I don't drive around with my fog lights on all the time. I only use them when needed so all that being the case, I'm thinking the original WC's are probably fine for me?

If your intended use is mostly street then we will recommend the Squadron SAE.

If you plan on using them mostly off-road, then the Squadron Sport or Squadron Pro is a fantastic light

After cross referencing the morimotos and fitments, the fog pocket kit should work on the 2015 Sienna as well?

Do the original Sport squadrons blind oncoming traffic? I'd be interested to see the difference in output as well as what it looks like to oncoming traffic between the 3 versions.

I guess I assumed the output would somewhat have a low cutoff since that is the typical fog pattern.

The Squadron Sport has gone through 3 different lumen counts:

    1800
    2260
    3150

The original Squadron Sport pumped out 1800 Lumens and was considered street-friendly. The street usability decreased each time we improved the light output. I don't recommend the 2260 or 3150 Lumen count models for street use.

Our Squadron SAE does have a cutoff and is intended for fog use. I'll try to post a better shot of the beam cutoff

A close-up of the LED will determine which model you have. When you purchased the lights is also a determining factor.

    These are rough timelines:
1800 Lumens (2014 to mid-2017) | silver base of LED
2260 Lumens (mid-2017 to mid-2018) | yellow base of LED
    3150 Lumens (mid-2018 to current) |

I don't have a photo comparison showing the LED difference between all three. It's a very noticeable difference between 1800 and 2260. Not quite as visible between 2260 and 3150
