In other news, today i realized my gas cap was basically just sitting in the fuel door unscrewed lol. I have no idea how that could have happened. So I replaced its crappy aftermarket cap with an OEM Toyota gas cap and I hope my EVAP codes and cel stay off this go round. Now that the fuel system is properly pressurized I can actually tell a different with the new injectors. I complained earlier this week that I didn't see any noticeable change. Now I do.

The ‘gremlins’ from the shop somehow unscrewed the cap to depressurize the fuel line on a Friday on their way out for the weekend.

The crazy thing is that I had the CEL come on a week before I took it to the shop. I just kept reading the codes with my scangauge and deleting em lol

With regard to the chrome bumper, my plan is to use a roll on bedliner. That will last longer than paint or plastidip.

I want that grille. I'd keep the Toyota word and delete the V8 symbol

How's the reception? I like the stubbies but the classical fm station is about all I listen to anymore. To say I miss my old truck's integrated xm radio is putting it lightly.

How did you fasten the emblems?

The V8 looks good without the main body clip.

Well at least you are covered with having a new cap for a few years. They should be replaced every 5 years along with a new radiator cap.

I have one of the stubby antennas and noticed no loss of reception in the short while I tested it in town. I don't listen to the radio though. Spotify ftw. Lol

Same here. I might be crazy but one station actually sounded better. I didn't buy it for function though. I don't listen to the radio often. I was tired of that 8' OEM antenna hitting trees and such. It looked dated and a bit ridiculous.

I don't think plasti-dip will hold up to stepping on it. You could also buy a cheap heat gun and treat the plastic to return it to as dark as possible to more closely match the plasti-dip on the bumper.

I wonder how they do on long trips. Texas is a big state and the big cities with radio stations aren't always close enough to tune into. Especially in the Hill Country

I've talked to guys who've used the heat gun method and it only lasts about 6 months before it's faded again.

Which is 6 months longer than plasti-dip once you start stepping on it...

How many bolts hold our bumper in place? I've never removed one. This may be quicker than trying to tape off everything else.

    Six.

Two on each side of the bumper-to-frame mounts. Two on the center/top that are (or should be) covered with plastic caps on either side of the hole you'd use to mount a trailer ball if you were going to mount one on the bumper.

If I remember correctly, they're all 12mm -- which is a really small hex-head for bolts this size. FYI: the center nuts on the bottom are welded to the hitch -- so you loosen the bolts from the top. Mine were a little rusty, and I didn't notice the welds. I couldn't understand why my impact gun wasn't working.:frusty:

*** Edit: And you'll need to loosen the bolts on the frame side of the brackets a little to release the clamping tension. (hope that makes sense.) All bolt heads are the same size.

Sounds like where I'm at. I can test it next time I do a road trip. For me though, the stubby as purely aesthetic. Haven't heard a thing on the radio worth enduring ads for in years. Been probably 5+ years since I deliberately listened to the radio in my truck for more than a minute or two.

I'm a little late for the impact wrench convo, but I NEVER miss an opportunity to show off. This beast hasn't came across a nut it couldn't bust(snicker).

Yeah I hear ya. I used.to had a.toich screen and a 18g USB so I never did the radio unless I wanted to listen to morning shows on long trips. Since I bought the tundra in August, I e been stuck with the factory radio. That's going to change by the end of the year. So til then I'll be listening to radio lol
