Finally finished my bike mount. I wanted the bikes to be mounted facing forward while keeping the tonneau cover on and this is what I came up with. The 2x6 platform will be secured with a couple of lashing straps. Just needs paint now.

I bought these and bolted them to a rib of my soft cover when I had it.
Now I have a tri fold hard top so I have to see what I can do

My old crew cab Tundra never had any issues with fitting my bikes. But my new Tundra won't fit anything in the back.
I used to use a tailgate pad, but the rear bike tires interfered with the flip top. So I now use a hitch mounted NS Bike rack. It works well, but it sucks to add a few feet to the overall length of the truck.

I like this idea. Please post up a few pics once it's complete.

The folded cover isnt 100% solid. I have one as well.

What if you mounted the bike mount to the bed floor and kicked the bike rear tires to the back corners?

The sides of the folded cover is pretty solid. The 2x6 board sits on the aluminum "frame" of the bed cover. You cant see it in the picture but I screwed on a couple of pieces of wood on the bottom of the 2x6 on the inside of the frame so it doesn't shift.

The mount on the bed floor is impossible without taking the cover off. Which is what I was avoiding.

I thought about bolting the fork mounts on that rib too. I just didn't think it was strong enough for 2 bikes.

I never had an issue and it was on there for two years.
I didnt use them that often though. About once a week on weekends.

The weight really isnt all that much. The front forks are resting on them and the remaining weight is on the bed. If you lift your forks up that would be the weight that is on there. You can rest them on a sheet of paper and they wont go through

I also needed that rib to be about 5 inches closer to the cab of the truck. The bike rear tires wouldn't clear the tailgate when bike is straightened.
