RCI Offroad Tundra Rock Sliders

Hi everyone, as we get ready to launch our Tundra Rock Sliders for the 07-19 Tundra we wanted to run a poll on your preference in slider looks/functionality. Obviously we want to provide unmatched protection on your truck but we also know that if it doesn't look great who wants to bolt it to their new truck!?

Why would you not want full coverage for a rock slider? That sounds like having a skid plate that covers half of your oil pan....

I'm just genuinely curious as to why this would even be a question

 

Love that these are truly full coverage! The only thing I worry about is that there's no support bar for the last couple of feet or so. So if you come down on that what's preventing it from bending into the body?

 

Since the shape of the bed requires the rear edge to be tapered you do lose some of the tubes structural integrity but at least you get some protection there. Obviously the biggest factor is whether or not you like the look this necessitates. If we make the slider symmetrical front and rear, cosmetically it looks great and you are only leaving about 5" of the bed uncovered. From a manufacturing and shipping standpoint this option makes the most sense and therefor there are some cost benefits as well.

 

I voted Full coverage. These are looking awesome! How about a group buy when these are ready for production?!?
I love my @RCIoffroad HD side steps but looks like I might have to replace them with these when they become available...

Edit.. after reading your explanation I changed my vote to the symmetrical option (#2). I’m guessing the back of the rail would look similar to the front. If there is a cost and manufacturing benefits then it makes sense.

 

#2. will you offer without top plate ?

 

Wheel to wheel makes the most sense to me - I'm looking forward to their availability. (And I second the group buy idea)

 

We made sure that the main body of the slider has PLENTY of reinforcement (5 braces) to allow for the bare minimum flex, but still the trucks frame limits the ability to add support tubes for the last bit. Having tested it here, I can say there IS more flex at the very back, but there is enough clearance from the cab that it can handle a decent hit without contacting the truck. Even if it did, the slider spreads out the impact so the damage would be bare minimum.

I should also point out the fact that we went with a completely different frame plate design than anyone else, which wraps around the backside of the frame. When you lift up on the slider it is actually pulling against the back of the frame and thus substantially reduces slider flex compared to traditional flat frame plates. Oh and did I mention we can lift the truck with the sliders with NO DRILLING?!?

 

Most likely we will but it all depends on sales volume. Not a big deal for us to make them without the tread plates but the 5 degree with tread plate options will likely be our default because of the multipurpose benefits of being a good side step AND functional rock slider.

 

Full coverage for sure. If I were buying some now I wouldn’t even consider them if they weren’t full coverage. If you wheel enough, it’s just a matter of time before this happens.

 

When @speckmon had his sliders fab'd he had the lower bedsides cut/trimmed level to allow a straight path for his sliders. I'm considering doing the same..

That top plate comes in handy if you have grandkids, and a dog.......

 

Firstly, I absolutely love your products. Just got the skids and hi-lift mount on last Friday. Looking at the pic you posted, I would like to see the kick out at the very rear of the slider. That will allow the slider to push the obstruction (in my case normally logs) away from the rear fender. I like the look of the top plate, in my opinion it looks way better than the diamond plate offered by others. If you need a test double cab, I volunteer.

I'd also like to see some tread plate back towards the bed. Handy step for retrieving items from the bed of the truck.

Yes! Just sold my Tacoma with the non skid plate rci sliders (20 degree). Hope there is a non skid 20 degree options. Just my opinion but never been a fan of 5 degree.
