Cooling fan

Has anybody replaced the stock mechanical cooling fan for an electric one and if so is it worth it and what did you use.

 

I've been thinking the same thing. Good Question.

 

Yeah I did this on my cummins tow rig and my jeep and it worked no issues at all,just curious if it's beneficial to our tundras.

 

I can only speculate on less engine drag and less fan noise. Other than that, dunno.

 

Personally, I've had a few people tell me to go electric to eliminate the engine drag. They say it will help your overall horsepower. A bonus is the fan noise, although that doesn't bother me. Wasn't sure of the benefits though.

 

I have it on my Tacoma. Is it worth it debated.. one hand is cools the engine down faster.. other hand it pulls about 30 amps of power more harder on alternator..

As for extra hp you might gain 6 hp but you lose some do to alternator working harder.

Would I do it to my tundra not really.
