Retired, same Miller Time going on here every now and then, and mandatory on BBQ days like today. If your around the Ft Lauderdale area I'd stop by to lend a hand. All this sounds really interesting. Ya gotta get some before/after pic's in as ya go.

Two hours later and I'm pissed off. Time to pull out the grinder and cut off wheels.

As long as I don't have to cut them off, I'll have 2 front 5100's and 2 brand new 5100's rears.

Anyone of a trick to getting the front eyelet out of the spring mount? This has never been removed from the day I bought it new in 06. It is being a real bitch as well as the upper shock mounts.

The bolt came out easily because of I have spraying PB Blaster on it for a couple weeks 4 times a week. It seems like the bushing is stuck.

I wedged a 2 ft prybar in there and pushed on it. You can also kind of pick up and put down the leaf pack from the shackle end, kind of wiggle it to free it up. My driver side was stubborn, passenger side practically fell out. My leafs are about 1.75 or 2" higher than stock and I don't have any carrier drop or anything.

@02goes I have Alcan, I don't think they're better or worse than Deaver or any other. They were a bit simmer than stock so I had to add a washer on the end of each sleeve to bridge the gap, probably an eighth inch or so. One of my packs had some backwards leafs as well, I had to correct that. They have held a few hundred pounds without going all flimsy on me, they haven't sagged a bit that i can tell and they make my rear tires feel well planted.

I've heard quite a few stories of parts showing up with unexpected surprises, it's happened to me a few times too. I think its important to let people know that things don't always arrived as planned, or work as planned. On the bright side readers can learn that theres usually a way to make things work.

Now it's time for beer, you guys got a head start on me.

I have thrown in the towel for the night. It is thunderstorming and I am tired/drunk. I'll regroup tomorrow after work with a bigger pry bar and a torch. Plus I need more cut-off wheels.... But mostly drunk and tired.

If you can get the angle you might be able to give a few taps between the tabs of the hanger with a good hammer. Just enough to free it up.
