Great plan! The S2's (Pro or Sport) in Work/Scene will be ideal for lighting off the rear and sides of the roof rack.

Regarding the 30" Bar vs. Squadrons on Ditch Light Brackets, keep in mind the location of these lights. You will have more usable light starting with a bumper mount vs. ditch lights. Often the ditch lights will cause a little hood glare so we don't recommend starting there if possible.

Pricing will be a little bit more with the Light Bar (30" S8 $849 vs. $429.95 for Squadron Pro Pair). Another thing to keep in mind :)

I like your ideas/ plans. ADS shocks are worth checking into also.
Can't go wrong with BD lights.
Personally I'd opt for sleeping beneath the shell with storage underneath. I had this setup for surfing in Baja as well as a ground tent that provided an extra room for keeping things out of the elements yet easy to access.
Sliders have saved the truck a few times. I got AP sliders through a group here. BAMF sliders are still a few months away. I really like the look of White Knuckle sliders.
Some RCI skids would be a great addition to your build as well as SDHQ ABS guards.

Thanks Bailey. I didn't think about the amount of usable light. Sounds like a 30" in the bumper is the way to go.

Agreed all around, sleeping in the shell should work the best. Adding @sdhq_offroad ABS guards to the list. The truck does have the stock skids. I know they're no @RCIoffroad, but could probably get me by for a while.

Truck is looking good. You should add 2018 LED headlights to your list ;)

Thank you! I would love to have some of those LED lights, but they would be pretty far down on my list.

When I mounted my roof rack on my shell, I used eye nuts at each corner to allow me to hang things from the inside. Link below. If you look through my build thread you can see what I did.

Frontrunner Slimline II rack on this weekend. This is my second Frontrunner - great company with an awesome product. Everything comes well labeled, instructions are great. I’ll be putting the ARB awning on next weekend. 466E00D9-1144-4651-BA03-9CC85C227FE7.jpg

Kings came in. Anyone know a good installer in the Portland area?5015C28A-4DC5-480B-A574-7C4BA8B226DF.jpg

Also spent a couple days over the holiday weekend in Bend, OR and a tiny town in CA. Unfortunately our night in Bend was spent huddled under the ARB awning and then the shell after listening to thunder for a couple hours turned into dumping rain on us. We slept in the shell on the decked drawers which was great. Stayed perfectly dry, and had plenty of room for the two of us and the dog.

Also, after a bit of a wait, the CBI sliders came in. These appear to be a really good value considering they wrap around the frame, are solidly built and come with dimpled top plates for a few pennies less than some other brands.

2.5 RR’s. Bypasses are too rich and unnecessary for my blood. If I go over 40 off road something is wrong. @osidepunker @n2deep @KevinK and the rest of the SGU crew wouldn’t have me even when I move back to SD at the end of the year.

Hell yeah you can run with us! The Speed part of SGU is just one part of the fun. We stop and look around a lot. ;)

    SGU - Sometimes Glamping Uberfahrts?

I dunno. The Speed part is integral to what we do, but shouldn't exclude anyone just because they like a more comfy pace. We do haul ass, but we also wait up for folks, get lost, turn around, find our way, go fast, turn around, have a beer, go slow, watch the sunset, find camp, have a beer, have a shower, eat well, have a beer, fart, have a beer, throw a lighter in the fire...

They’re working out great. Haven’t used them as sliders yet, but they fit perfectly and work well as steps and protection from rocks flying up and hitting the truck.

Why did you get rid of the decked system? I had it on my silverado and loved it. I'm getting one for my tundra in the near future.

It was awesome for some situations, and really frustrating for others. Without a camper shell anything taller than a foot or so becomes taller than the bedsides. I had to worry about things falling over the sides. Also the drawers not being full extension got old - having to get things out of the middle of the drawer to remove the d-box or whatever I put in the back third. That being said, they do provide a great weatherproof/secure solution for some storage needs.
