The interior is gray with subtle hints of red in the seats when you get up on them.

Thanks! Mine is about 38". I'll climb in some time to see if I think another 5.5" would be enough or if I have to go full "old man grandpa" (as my fiancee says) with the high-rise.

I can also gain around .75" if I remove the thick rubber mat I have in...to protect the spray-in bed liner (I was a little timid about damaging the truck - and my knees - when I first bought it.)

Just not sure about my prospects for finding such a shell, for an old truck, without buying new, and that amount of cash isn't in my near future.

 

I got super lucky and got my topper for free, from a random guy on Craigslist just cleaning his garage! My truck bed is for three dogs, so I have to camp in a tent.

 

Something special for the wife - breakfast in bed, something shiny, detail her car, ….

 

There’s one in SoCal. I think it’s overpriced, but might be worth checking into.

The grill looks good Jon. Well done. You have plans to sand those headlights soon? If I lived nearby you and I could knock those out in about an hour. Try the 3M kit. It was $11 on eBay.

Don't have before and after but the Meguairs kit works great as well. Much easier than I thought it would be and makes a huge difference.

 

Maybe some day. I actually have a kit I lost and another I never opened around here somewhere. I just don't feel like thanking the time to do it right. So i just hit em with this spray stuff that wipes off clean about every 3 months. Takes about 1 minute.

 

This code isn't working for me unfortunately. Question for you, it looks like it comes with all mounting hardware but I just want to confirm .

 

Went to AutoZone and got a bunch of maintenance items. They told me my 06 4.7 doesn't have an inline fuel filter. I thought it did. Oh well.

 

They got rid of the older canister/paper filter style that was located along your frame rail. Nothing to change on our trucks now.

Filter is located in the tank, correct?

 

Not really a filter more like a mesh screen. Part diagrams typically list them as strainers.

I'm assuming in 05-06 they switched to a plastic tank which is why they lost the frame mounted filter. The two fuel tanks I've had to drop were plastic and there wasn't any debris to speak of inside the tanks so I can understand why they did away with it.

Something is unsettling about not having a fuel filter.

I believe the earlier gens have a sock in the tank and definitely a filter inline under the drivers chassis.

I guess its ok not having one if you guys haven’t had any problems.

 

The earlier trucks still had steel fuel tanks so the filter to keep small rust particles out of the injectors.

Plastic tanks don't have that issue so the chance of contamination is minimal since the pumps at the stations filter the fuel as it's being dispensed.

 

So stoked to have an OEM fuel cap with a leash again. Also, the Drum Gaskets came today so these will be getting a whirl soon after the upcoming tire rotation.

 

Where y’all getting OEM Denso Ignition coils?

I’ve got a cracker

 

Big Gurl had the 2002 model Denso coils for about $55 each last year. I replaced all 8 due to half of them being cracked.

 

All 8!? Wowieee

I only had time to look over the passenger side coils / plugs and all looked good except this one. I’ll check the driver side tomorrow to get an exact count on how many to order.

My plugs have 55k miles on them. They’re looking good!

 

Expensive but should last another 15 years.

I just replaced all 4 on my Element through Amazon. Those were 39 each but different Denso part number. Interestingly the old ones said made in USA and new ones made in Japan.

 

Yeah OEMs are the only way to go. Glad I’ve only found 1 out of 4 that is cracked...

 

That Denso $55 each was a steal last year. Believe they’ve gone up in cost a bit.

I read many reviews of Lexus and Toyota owners having problems once one goes bad. They kept chasing the replacement coils one at a time. I figured do it all and be done.

I also read that they can not have a crack, but still operate not as efficiently due to age. Only way to know was a test which I wasn’t wasting time on. Still have the old coils.

 

Since I didn't see a response to @tvpierce's question, I'll ask too: where is a good source - and part number - for polyurethane bushings for our sway bars. I have searched this forum, other fora, the Google more broadly, and the usual suspects' websites directly, and oddly can't get a good clear answer on the best brand / part for the sway bar bushings.

I think I have decided on Energy Suspensions bushings for the steering rack, but a similar clarity has eluded me for the sway bar.
