LOVE the idea of sound dampening. I'm really interested to hear your feedback on how much difference it makes, and if there are any guides you followed and/or tips tricks to getting it done and making it worth the effort.

@phiredrop It made a big difference for me. I drive 60 miles round trip to work on the freeway everyday and I had to have the stock radio at about a 40 just to hear it comfortably with cruising. After I did the dynamat, I can now have the radio at about a 12-15 to hear it the same as I did before it.

I watched all of the Taco Tunes videos on how to install the sound deadener on YouTube and used them for reference during installation. A couple things I noticed during my install were

    • Decided to add dynamat to the inner door skin as well as the outer one. The area is really tight for anyone who is tall or has big hands (I am 6'5'') and I felt like at times I was auditioning for the next Cirque du Soleil act. The inner doors take time but I think are well worth doing even though some may disagree.
    • Wear disposable gloves, its much easier to handle/position the material with gloves on that getting it stuck on your skin
    • Make sure to follow the advice Taco Tunes said on the video and overlap the material
    • Make sure to have a good roller and expect your hand to cramp non stop until your done
    • Be sure to add material behind and around the speaker as well, it made my stock system sound much clearer
    • Be sure to do the rear wall and not just the doors. The rear wall had a LOT of noise that I never realized.
    • Make sure you have more than enough material. I thought I was going to be short a day before the install so I ordered another box on Amazon and man that saved my life. That would of sucked to have to remove everything a second time if I didnt have enough.
    • Drink lots of beer. Took me about 8 hours to do all the doors and rear wall

If you have any other questions, just let me know! Happy to help!

Thanks! Adding the clear silicon sealant to the raised ridges definitely helps. I can maneuver the truck back and forth aggressively (to clean the loose rubber off my tires like NASCAR ), and the phone won’t slide a millimeter.

Last weekend, TRD rear sway bar. Love it, corners so much smoother.

Saturday I plastidipped the cupholder and shifter trim and added tvd radio decals. The decals were a pain in the ass and I couldn't get them perfect but look pretty good.

    All good points.

On the material, it looks like we applied to the same areas, and I used almost all of my material, which consisted of 1 - 36sq ft and 1 - 18 sq ft box of Noico. I also used two rolls of the Noico tape.
Agreed on the tightness of the inner door panels, and also, that Toyota metal can be sharp! My left hand/arm looks like I am the world's worst at cutting my wrists. I had RC surgery on my right shoulder in February, so am still mainly using the left.
When you pull the factory plastic sheets off the doors, use a very quick and hard pull, and you will get off all/almost all of the glue used to hold them to the doors. If any is left, press the plastic sheet, (a clean portion of it), back over the remaining adhesive, and give it a quick yank. Having the doors clean of this makes applying the material so much easier.
Get a set of plastic trim tools before you start. They will make popping some of the pieces off much easier, and are invaluable to pull the white plastic inserts out of the door w/o damaging them. Some of these connectors will stay with the door panel when you remove it, but you'll have to pull the ones that are still in the door, and reattach them to the door panel.

Halfway through, I shot this video. Thumps 1 and 3 are the undeadened front door; 2 and 4 are the deadened back door.

Big shout out and thank you to @SR5 AZUL and @Beesta for hooking me up! Finally after months and months I have found the 19’ PRO BBS wheels!! Now time for a slight lift and meatier tires. Xtreme Offroad in Chesapeake, VA is an amazing shop and I highly recommend them as well!

Fire extinguisher wrapped up. For the areas I hunt in the fall, we are required to carry at least a 5lb extinguisher as part of our access requirements.

I’ve got a set of the +3 still in the wrapper from the last group buy. I’m thinking I like the +2, what do you have on the front?

The rubber grippers are quick fists. I have them mounted to some aluminum flat bar that I have mounted to my bed rails.

This past weekend the truck got a wash, rotated the tires and changed the oil.

Toyota is a Japanese company, my truck assembled in Texas using wheels made in China. Thought it was humorous when I saw that.

Nice job! Glad to see someone else going with foam and mlv. You wont regret it!
I wanna do my roof with something. I'm afraid to pull the liner down but I just know itll make a HUGE difference in sound. I gotta do it.

Its definitely worth the time, effort, and money. Especially if you do it right. CLD tiles, closed cell foam, mass loaded vinyl, tape seems, maybe add some insulation or a reflective layer. My cabin is so quote now, and I can blast my radio and barely hear it outside the car. No vibrations, no rattles. Doors close like a 1980s caddy. Music sounds better. It's a big project but worth it
