One of my good friends has had a bad accident on a UTV on a hunting trip in Grand Junction. Their ATV flipped and rolled down an embankment. It wasn't the roll but the sudden slam to the ground that was bad news.

He broke his neck (C6), several vertebrae, broken ribs and a severe head trauma. His T7 vertebrae burst causing spinal cord injury with certain paralysis from chest down. He has been in a coma since the incident. His brain is swollen and pressure is up and down each day.

His friend made it out a little better. Concussion, brain bleeding and leg/ankle injury.

He was an amazing guy. High moral standards. Very funny. Great to be around. Just got married one year ago. His family is having a rough time. Hard to stay positive. [IMG]

    Brian,
My thoughts and prayers are with your friends and family. I literally experienced the same scenario in September and know how difficult it can be. God bless.

Went through this exact situation with my father in law minus the coma. Though he can walk around now, it's with serious constant pain and he is literally 4 inches shorter that he was prior to the accident due to all of the subsequent issues.

Thoughts and prayers are with them.

Brian, may the Lords spirit be with Jeremiah, his family, and friends.

This hits home to me as well. My brother had a crash like this. Lucky his GF at the time fell off the back and had bumps and bruises. He was not as lucky. He was wearing a 1911 pistol on his left side, and of course he landed right on it and broke his hip and the femur joint the goes into the hip. That was bad, but the worse was yet to come. Getting out of the Montana mountains, atv was destroyed and in heavily populated wildlife. His GF went for help, but he had a 1911 with 8 rounds to fend off whatever might come visit the rest of the day. He was rescued, but with some severe pain.

My original date for my wedding was for my birthday weekend in Vegas, just a month away. He was my best man, and this happened at the worst time. Little did I know, he saved my wedding and all the plans/flights were changed. Everything happens for a reason Brian, even if we do not understand it.

We were married in Vegas on Dec 1, 2001 with my brother proudly at my side.

My original wedding date, and my birthday is September 11th.........

The update from the family for today is not good.
Inter-cranial pressure rose again this morning higher than before. More drainage from chest tube.

Keep positive Brian. He needs you more now than ever.

On my first day of school, my senior year, all of us sport bike guys decided to ride. My one good friend forgot his helmet at home and flipped out since he knew his Mom would ground him from the bike. I remember saying to him, just go get it at lunch. He said it was a quick ride home and ripped off. He made it 1/8th mile down the road and T-boned a Subaru Brat at over 60 mph. I ran over to him, I was sure he was dead. White spinal fluid was coming out his ears, his brain was visible, and he laid on the ground lifeless. The vivid imagages still haunt me to this day. I went and seen him all the time in the ICU, family and friends were camped out for months.

He ended up making it against all odds. It took years of therapy and catching up, but he married, two kids, divorsced, and is a successful businessman.

From that day forth, I quit riding without protective gear and realized I was not 10' tall and bulletproof, nor Tom Cruise cruising with just shades on with the wind in my hair.

Oh man Brian, I'm so sorry to hear about that.

May the Lord look over your friend and his family. I know that God is the ultimate healer. I will get the rest of my family to intercede in prayer for him and his family also.
Though I walk through the valley of death, I will fear no evil, thy rod and thy staff will comfort me.

Stay strong, my friend and know all the guys above and below me on this thread are praying, plus countless more.
