There's no way that Tesla will be only 50k. That truck/SUV will be 100k when it hit the lots.

So if you mount an electric generator in the back and plug it in to the charging point, does range go to unlimited (assuming you can keep the generator gassed up)?

What about a wind generator? Some old fighter jets use to have these wind powered generators for secondary power (gun pods and stuff), if you mounted a wind generator do we have a perpetual motor then?

    Precoffee thinkin' here.

No plan to buy and electric vehicle at all, much less Tesla. If I change energy sources it'll be to a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle.

I do not object to electric vehicles. If the range, towing, load carrying numbers, and cost of ownership are competitive I would consider an electric pickup, but that Tesla is pretty ugly, the bed looks very small, and as implied above by Andrew8404, the future of Tesla as a manufacturer of vehicles is not looking good right now. I voted 'maybe', but honestly I don't think would buy that truck if it still looks like that when put into production.

biggest thing is build quality. Ny dads on his second tesla (had a '13 P90D now has a '18 P100D). The build quality is absolute shit. I never thought he'd buy another one but mom wanted to be able ot use the carpool lane solo. I couldn't even add up the problems he had with the first, including things like the passenger door just opening on it's own. The new one seems to be built a tad bit better, but the sales experience was legit one of the biggest cluster fucks i have ever witnessed.

I will be inline for an electric truck once they work out all the bugs. My tundra is already a 40 mile a day economical commuter, and I suspect 98% of trucks are in the same boat. Can it go all week on a charge? Hold a cooler,a tent, and bikes? Make it to Mammoth Mtn and back? Tow a trailer once a year when I decide to clear brush and trim trees? I know some people use their trucks for real work, but mine just needs to be fast, reliable, and do basic truck stuff once in a while. I would prefer if Toyota would make me a 400hp awd hybrid pickup with all the features I need.

I've seen it on this board somewhere but the RIVIAN is the truck I'm following. Available up to 400 mile range and a striating price of 69k. I wonder how much all the options will cost.
However while looking for a link I saw this overland version with a slide out kitchen for the cross bed storage. Pretty cool overland setup.
Of course nothing looks as good as my Tundra in my eyes, but then again I'd always laughed at E-cars until my wife bought a Chevy Bolt. I love that thing.

I know it's crazy right? Tesla stock is higher than any other car manufacturer but you are taught to believe this by oil companies who are trying their utmost to derail Tesla.

Pretty much the same boat. If you really boil it all down, a Ridgeline would suit most people's needs. I'd prefer a fuel cell over electric, but I wouldn't not consider taking a look at one. That being said, I'm not a fan of the styling of the Telsa, but the Rivian or Atlas wouldn't be bad. I don't get why they don't put solar cells on the roofs of these things to aid in range and charging.

The Atlis is the most desirable IMHO based on technical data, looks, and actually focusing on what trucks are used for. Atlis goes into detail about payload, towing, range, etc.. They make mention of using their platform for commercial and recreational vehicle platforms as well. They currently tout a 15 minute recharge time. Tesla is going to have big shoes to fill if Atlis can make good on all their claims. As others have said, I'm following the Atlis closely and take them seriously at this point. Tesla and Elon deserve a lot of credit for bold steps they have taken in the last 20 years, they have been pioneers in this race and many other tech races. But ultimately the final product, experience, price point, quality, and tech specs just aren't adding up in Tesla's favor.

And Yes, I would buy a 100% electric truck if it could fit all of my parameters that I require in a truck. I tow a camper frequently, but the Atlis sounds like that's what it's made for. I'd buy the EV truck and then ditch my commuter, potentially for a net cost savings.

Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles ARE electric vehicles just an fyi. The fuel cells you mention actually just create electricity same as an "electric" vehicle. The difference is charging...and with electrics now charging in 15 mins etc it sure seems to be becoming the winner.
I'm not i love with some aspects of looks but if they or Rivian etc had a little less futuristic I'd be down.

Not only this but it can be ordered with long travel from the factory.:spending:. This will be my future truck but not anytime soon I want them to work out the issues any new vehicle has and then I’ll think of investing in 6-8 years.

Not opposed to electric trucks. The technology is getting there and its just a matter of time. It's better than that damn idiotic cylinder deactivation crap and a step above turbo V6's. Until then, I'll stick with my 5.7 Tundra.

    This is the future.
I see a mass migration away from 100% fossil fuel vehicles in the next 25 years. As technology improves and demand increases , there will be a market for an electric 4 wheel drive truck.
Smart phones have all but replaced stationary home phones for many reasons , and to an extent , personal computers.
Processes evolve , change , adapt and get better and the product they produce do as well.
