Before I start a new thread i figured I'd ask here. Has anyone color matched the front sensor decal on the 2018s? If so did affect the sensor and how did you get the cover off?

How do you intend to color match the sensor? Are you planning on putting something over it? I don’t see how it could be done, but not saying it can’t be done. Definitely interested

Honestly no clue, I'm here to find ideas and experiances lol. I havent tried to pull the decal/sensor off or anything, but ultimately I would like to remove the plastic cover and put a sticker or overlay to basically make the toyota T and circle white and put the cover back on.

I don’t know what the sensors cost, I’m guessing it would be good to get one off a wrecked truck or if price is right buy one. One thing about this site is that nothing is impossible

I’m assuming it would be like taking apart a headlight and going from there

The sensor is below the letters on the Pro grille and it’s in the emblem on the other models.

When it comes to the emblem it has a plastic cover over the emblem that looks like its printed on there compared to the previous years where you have a molded piece of plastic

One of the reasons my truck looks like it does today .But under my 5.7 badge their where some scratches so I put those back on. But after all I love the look of no badges also .But blacked out is great also .But you are on to something with all decals.

Do the chrome emblems require any surface prep (besides just being clean) before installing the overlays overtop?

Nope. Just clean them well with rubbing alcohol and you'll be good to go. I used those individual alcohol wipes because that's what I had on hand. It's been a couple months and no issues.
