im trying to find a whistle sound that is consist with wheel speed not RPM. i have this constant whistle that i can hear very well around 50-60km/h. i do believe there is faint of whistle at a very low speed and higher speed (around 80km/h) also. every time i try to search for the whistle on tundra but all i find is intake whistle problems. the whistle sound that i get is so similar to the intake gasket whistle but its bit lower pitch whistle. i hear it normal driving 50-60km/h but when driving by wall or parked cars i can hear it very well. its coming from front or middle of the truck passenger side. its constant and consist with wheel speed.

    Welcome from NY.

Do you have side window visors? If so there's your whistle.

just came back from driving without the visors and the sound is still there. i think its coming for front passenger wheel or bottom of the truck. could be u joint, drive shaft, differentials. i hope its none of these. i just hope its break dust guard on rotors but very hard to tell. it's the loudest at 55km/h and the pitch gets higher as the truck speeds up and the sound disappears below 40km/h. the high pitch is not as high as intake whistle

thank you jim for ur advice tho

    Welcome.

You don't say how old the truck is, how many miles, or when the noise started.

Drive line components don't typically make a "whistling" noise, and if it were the brake back plate, all Tundras would have a similar whistle.

From a wheel area, it could be tire noise. Did you get new tires? Try having the tires rotated and see if the noise moves with the tire.

sorry there about the lack of info. i purchased a used 2015 sr5 DC in november 2018. it has 110000km on it. did a 6500km cross country trip and half way through i begain to hear the noise. the noise started very faintly. only heard the noise because driving near a building but now i hear it all the time. ill try rotating the tire. the truck came with new ko2s and i havent rotated the tire since i bought the truck. maybe ill try rotating the tire and see if its the tires.

and the truck is bone stock trd off-road. the truck does pull to the right a litle and has a tiny steering shake when driving over 100km. i think i need a alignment but didnt got it done yet due to my work schedule.

just wondering if the intake whistle is constant for the people experiencing it? or just on certain RPM?

I seem remember there being a similar issue with 2016+ Tacomas. On them, there was a hole in the lower control arm that would whistle. If you plug it with some kind of plastic/rubber cap the noise would go away.

I would imagine they are fairly similar but I couldn’t say for sure. Maybe take a look under there and if you see any holes in the arm tape over them and go for a ride

Mine started doing this on a long drive a couple of weeks ago, and because I’m pretty OCD, I pulled over and started going through EVERYTHING. I found that my radio antenna was lose. I tightened it down by hand, and the sound stopped immediately. It had set up a harmonic that sounded like a whistle. It’s simple and easy to check.

All I can say is wheel bearings. Seriously check them. The “whistling” sound may be something else but I have had wheel bearings fail and they start off light and develop into a louder sound over time.

Also check your inner wheel well there are tons of plastic clips that can come loose and cause the plastic guards to catch air and make noises.
