What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

I've noticed this before but thought I'd put out there for anyone on fence about ceramic coating their vehicles. I have artic coating and so far it's probably been close to a year. I noticed today parked next to other vehicles the color difference is huge. Look at the other Camry same color down the line. This is after like 3 days of rain since cleaning and parking near a construction site daily.

Finally had my truck fixed from backing into a tree. Had the body shop de-badge and paint the front and rear corners. While I waited to get the truck fixed I picked up color matched bushwhackers new in box for 350 and went with black handles and mirror covers. Next I need the amp power steps, Tesla style radio and leather interior.

 

What size wheels and tires and what is the lift? Looks awesome....

After driving my truck completely stock for a year, I finally swapped out the chrome grill for a color matched unit from Roman, and yesterday I got my lift, wheels, and tires on. Bilstein 6112 on top setting with 1 shim on each side, Toytec Shackles set at 1.5”, and Toytec boss rear shocks. Wheels and tires are Fuel Vector 20x9 +20 and Nitto Ridge Grappler 35x11.50R20. So far I love the look, and the ride may be better than stock. Took off the mudflaps in front, and plan to heat and reshape the liner at the front bumper. Barely clears the body mount, so no BMC necessary.

 

Have you towed anything substantial with that hitch yet? If so do you like it and has it made a difference?

Tires - Nitto Ridge Grappler 295/70/18
Wheels - KMC XD135 GRENADE OR
Lift is a 2.5" Fox coilovers which comes stock on the on '19 TRD Pros

 

I had the same concerns. Initially, it feels secure enough to put small items such as knives and flashlights, maybe small med pack, water bottle or handgun... I have thought about a small fire extinguisher. I think that may be pushing it with its current design. Not sure yet.

However, you may provide some kind of backing like a washer and lock nut or small block of wood to drill in to but that will require you to remove your console but could increase the load capacity.

All that said, I like it. I think it’s a good idea. I wouldn't let those concerns prevent you from purchasing.

Added a 3/1.5 leveling and Cooper AT3 XLT 275/65/20 tires. They are about 34.2" OD. They fill the wheel wells just perfectly.

 

Picked it up from the dealer. Traded my 2017 Tacoma sport for it.

 

That truck is still lookin badass. I have a set of similar lights in my garage for the rear bumper. I wanted to place mine where you did, in the plastic. Are they holding up? The plastic seems thin.

About 30 minutes west of Albany

 

Boxed them up and put them on the shelf with the 17 Pro headlights. I’m starting a collection.

I hope yours is holding up as well. I don't want to be responsible for messing up ur coating, so dont take my word for it if it's safe. But the bottle of bead maker I got says it's safe for coatings. I put some of that on it last time I washed it last weekend and gotta say it brings that glass like look and feel back to it like the 1st day I picked it up from the coating. I can tell it's still there and working but the bead maker I'm guessing enhanced it. If Anthony says it's fine I highly recommend it. Kinda kicks up the coating a notch from over time and use.

I know u use your truck a bit different from mine but if u ever get to the point where u feel it could be taken up a notch, let me know and I'll put some in a bottle for u to try. I got the big guy on sale, orange bottle on right. I can still definitely notice the coating but when I used this it felt and looked like I brought it back to day 1 of picking it up.

 

No plans to sell some of your collection?

 

I don't have any travel trailer, but I still like to think this is pretty substantial. This is my 16ft tandem trailer that got a decent amount of weight by inteslf. Not dump trailer heavy but still got some weight. I load the hell out of it, a bunch more than what u see in both pics. I pretty much load it up until I see the tires bowing a bit. Usually it's freshly split non seasoned wood or log lengths and rounds so the wood is still real heavy in moisture. Both pics I stopped to take in the process of loading so they're nowhere near where I normally stop loading.

The hitch is rated for 10k, similar to the truck, so I like to keep it around there. If I had to guess, I'd say I'm probably towing around 8k lbs when I load it all the way up. Lot of my towing is also up and very steep hills, with a whole lot off road towing. This is where the hitch really shines.





Before I got it I was skeptical thinking it could be a gimmick. People who had them swore by them but I could tell they weren't even using them properly. They'd buy the 20k version and put nowhere near that weight on it, nowhere near enough tongue weight, and the hitch wouldn't even move. Yet the swore by it. I decided the 10k would be perfect for me since I wasn't going to kill my truck doing much more than that. If u put some weight on it and pay attention to the tongue weight I can assure you it's no gimmick.

I've literally had to pull over a handful of times to make sure it was still attached. Offroad it really shines, the rougher the terrain, the more the thing works. It basically separates the truck from the load your towing. They both act independently from the other. So u don't get that jerked around feeling either when the truck or the trailer hits a bump or whoop before or after the other. It really is amazing.

To sum it up I've noticed a huge difference between this hitch and others on the market. It's also got other benefits when it comes to versatility, besides just working great.

The 1 and only downside if u want to call it that, I would've hoped the powder coat held up better from rust. Where I live eats up metal from road salt ect, so i can't say i didn't expect it.

But far as it working and being versatile, imo it probably the best hitch on the market and I'm very happy with it. I'm probably gonna take it to my p.c. guy and let him work his magic on the rust starting to show. I'm just anal.
