Maybe I hadn't noticed before, but I feel my A/C is not working right.

I turn on the truck, it blows cold.

Then a cadence sets in. Every 10 seconds or so, I can smell/feel the air getting slightly warmer, then begins to cool again for 10 seconds.

Is this just the A/C Compressor cycling on/off?

Is it supposed to do that?

Only comparison I have is to my 2004 Cavalier, the compressor is engaged 100%, never cycles off/blows slightly warmer air as far as I can tell.

You are right. You are low on refrigerant. The compressor is "short cycling". Find the leak, repair and recharge the system.

Crap. Was hoping I was wrong. It's been fine since I bought the truck last June.

Don't beat yourself up. Ac is a weak link when it comes to Toyota reliability.

All cycling A/C systems do this to some extent. Some are worse than others. We have three toyotas,2010 4runner,2006 4runner and 2007 Tundra. You don't notice the 2010 4runner as much. The 2006 4 runner and 2007 Tundra you can definitely feel the air change. The sensor on the evaporator coil determines when the compressor cuts off and on. It may be letting it get a little to warm before it cuts it back on.If the vents are turned where the air blows directly on you then you will notice it more.
