I've had no luck with tires. The ones from the dealer lasted 22k. Since then I've had no luck with tires. My last pair were Bridgestone Revo A/t only lasted 25k. Rotated them every 6k. any suggestions ?

I feel your pain somewhat. The first set of tires I had on the 2012 4Runner were Dunlops & lasted 24K miles & I was getting 24 mpg. I replaced them with Hankook ATs & it knocked down the mileage to 20 & were noisy as hell on the highway, but it was a much heavier tire in all respects & did very well in winter conditions back up here in these hills.

I just replaced the Hankooks at 69K even though there was still about 5-10k worth of miles on them, but winter driving conditions are almost here, making it a good time to try something different, so yesterday I put Michellin Defender MS on. Hit the highway right out of the tire dealership & what a difference in noise level, now I'm just hoping mpg will go up.

I got the idea for the Defenders from the Michellins that came with the 16 Tundra I bought a few months back, they are really very quiet running tires on a pickup, they're not Defenders but the predecessor on which the Defender design is based, supposedly a slightly more durable rubber.

The Hankooks were a really good tire for use in the conditions I got out of them, but the Defender seems to cover all those bases in addition to being so much quieter running on the highway which can be important for lengthy trips, I like being about to listen to my CDs without having to crank up the volume to compete with the noise volume from those tires screaming across the top of the highway.

They're called Dunlaps "cause they're done after the first lap. Tire store humor, sorry.

Ive had my toyo AT's for almost 10K miles and they don't even look worn.

Sounds like you're getting P rated tires, and in my opinion, Bridgestone tires SUUUUCK!!

I put on new Toyo AT2 Open Country tires 2 years ago and racked up over 30k miles, rotate every 5k miles and they're still barely worn

So, what is the noise level with those ATs? With the Hankook ATs on the 4Runner the noise level on the highway was beyond tolerable, but the tire itself was the best tire for endurance that I've ever had on any of my trucks.

Yesterday my wife spent the entire day driving around with the new Michellin Defenders, she was so pleased with the new quiet ride & better handling. The next test will be to see how well they perform when winter driving conditions set in back up here in these hills where the roads may not see a snowplow until a week after we get hit with 2' of snow, it's the reason why I need to maintain 2 snowblowers for my 400' long driveway.

They are very quiet I have been extremely impressed with them. My wife has the Back Country Toyos on her jeep they have more of an off road look with a little more road noise but still a great long lasting tire. Highly recommend.
