Those prices are nuts. I wouldn’t pay more than $150 for one.

yep bank account is running low from it..

Do you have a charger that can do sulfation to convert back to the active material, regaining lost battery capacity or recovery? Batteries must be recovered more often do to the crap EPA and recycling of batteries made into new ones (plates) from junk ones..

I learned after I keep eating batteries it wasn't the alternator or starter.. it was basically plates degrading. After some research few chargers handle recovery the right way...

I added to all three of my trucks noco gen1 bank charger plug in and forget it . Ever since they have been added I have replace none of my batteries and it starts better alot better.

While I know it's a pain in the rear to plug in the truck even over night but I have seen maximum battery. Example when I bought my FJ cruiser it had the original battery from 2014.. ordered a noco let it charge for 24 hours.to recover th battery and it bought that battery back.. ymmv on this but this solved alot of my battery problem.. plus I'm on the road alot so charger can charge and recover keeping the battery fresh..

I do not, but once considered installing a flux capacitor and chickened out.

I’ll stick with my Bosch batteries as they seem to be doing well and they replace them for free like this one was when it died as their warranty is the best prorated one as far as I know.

I am interested in quicker starts in the winter. Summer the truck fires up. Winter takes another half second to full second.

I posted the multi-meter results for anyone interested as they are inline with a properly functioning battery (per spec with engine off) and alternator (per @Mike) when engine is running.

That $305 is at the upper end of what I ‘thought’ a new one costs, but lo its a used reman’d from a stealer who is the only place I can find Denso.

The other alternative is local rebuilt (time down on truck). Pull, plug, and play is the way so its either Auto Zone (hairy) or Used Denso (hairy) or New Denso ($cary).

No idea. I haven't needed one myself. But at that price you could go through a lot before you ended up money behind buying a new one. They have some as cheap as $80. Not saying an $80 one will last as long as a $800 dollar one...but it probably will last longer than 1/10th as long.

I think the concern is that this isn't a job you want to do over and over. Swapping the alternator out on our trucks apparently isn't much fun.

Yeah. I think my truck has the ‘heavy duty’ starter. 100 amps. I’ll hit Nappy Auto up when its needed.

I think they are all made at the same plant. Just like gasoline.

Two big main ones are exide and johnson controls and Penn is in there some where.

Imo we need to go-to ion batterys or agm standard and forget lead acid totally.
