Am I crazy or did the early 2nd gens have more bells and whistles?

I was just at the junkyard and ran across a loaded 08 CM. It had options I had never heard of. Here’s a small list of what surprised me.

    Puddle lights
    Rear DVD player & screen
    Rear 110v outlet
Rear A/V inputs for the DVD system
Power fold mirrors with heat & turn signals
Dual sun visors (each side) with lighted mirrors
    Power tailgate lock
    Sonar
    Parking sensors
    Sliding center console lid
Rear view mirror looked different also

    Everything looked OEM.

My '08 TRD OR has the sliding console lid, the sonar parking sensors, and a homelink auto-dimming mirror with compass. If by "puddle lights" you mean the ones on the bottom of the inside door panels, yes, them too. I can't remember if my driver's side sunvisor has a mirror or light, I almost never flip it down. Maui Jim takes care of me there.

Other than the power-fold mirrors, the rest I would agree were aftermarket add-on's and yes, later models saw some features disappear.

    Puddle lights-add on/option.
    Rear DVD player & screen-option
    Rear 110v outlet-add on
Rear A/V inputs for the DVD system-came with system if I remember correctly
Power fold mirrors with heat & turn signals-option (not in tow mirrors)
Dual sun visors (each side) with lighted mirrors-option
    Power tailgate lock-add on
    Sonar Parking sensors -option
Sliding center console lid-standard. I wish mine would have had this option. It's pretty cool. Think it was discontinued in 09
Rear view mirror looked different- no idea

As Sean said, some are aftermarket add on items.

I owned my truck for a good 6 months before I discovered the sliding console lid. I thought it was busted at first.

It took nearly 2 years to discover the electric wiper heater that comes on with the heater mirrors.

Yup, grab the handle like you're going to lift it, but push forward instead.

I grabbed the rear console blank that included the 115v and A/V plug. There was an OEM harness and plug for both that led up under the console.

I know the 115V plug requires a converter downstream but I figured I’d at least have the OEM plug for future mods.

    Everything looked factory to me.

I can post pics of part #’s of each component to verify if they’re really OEM.

I have all the options you mentioned except the dvd player, power tailgate lock and 120 volt outlet. I have the lights inside the door panels and puddle lights in the rear view mirrors. It's all OEM. 08 DC LTD

    Damn. Learned something new.

No wonder the 2008 Tundra was truck of the year award winner.

Noticed this too when having the thought of up grading to a 3rd gen and realized my 08 CM had more options. I like that you can turn off nannies also. That was a fun find. Not sure if they can on later models.

My 09 Limited CM has all the options listed in the op from the dealer. The only thing that wasn’t an option is the power tailgate lock. I did add that though. The side view and rear view mirrors all have auto dimming also. Just the glass in the side view mirrors is $240! Ask me how I know.
Some of the options probably aren’t available now and I know they required you to buy a Platinum to get the rest of them in later years.

    Not nearly enough room here!
Bean Counter deleted features for SR5's from 2010 include, Dual Zone AC/H, Lights in door bottoms, Amber Flashers, Dual Glove Box, Sliding Console, Driver's Grab Handle, Additional Storage. I'm probably missing a couple items too.

It just slides forward about 3.5”

It locks in 11 different positions. (Yeah, I counted :) ) Makes a more comfortable right armrest on road trips.

    Man, that's cool!
Some of the 2nd gens had the fold flat front passenger seat too, which would be super cool to have.

The ‘08s are “The Greats” :D

Haven’t heard of that on a Tundra. My ‘06 Taco had it, was kinda cool but never used the feature. Ever. In 6 1/2 years.

The tundra I had before this one had a front bench, if the passenger seat folded forward I wouldve used it constantly!

OK, Just confirmed my 07 SR5 has the sliding console cover. Woot-woot! Did not know, not sure when to utilize this feature. The amount of dust uncovered might reveal its usefulness... LOL

My dad got an 11' that we needed to replace the console lid on. Turns out the fastest way to remove it without breaking clips is to slide it forward to access some screws. Felt really dumb when I found out it slides forward.
