Just installed my 6112s thanks to this thread (with JBA UCAs and 5100s in rear). These things are beasts compared to the old off road suspension! Ride quality improvement was noticeable driving out of the installers driveway and continued to get better throughout the day of driving! I live in MT and there are a fair share of rough roads. I am super impressed with the ride of the truck now! Stock wasn’t terrible especially on pavement but off road it is was slow moving for sure. Now I feel much more confident traveling at higher speeds on the dirt. Granted, it’s no trophy truck.... but it suits all my needs now! Don’t hesitate if you want a quality setup without breaking the bank!

My 6112's are set at 1.3 and looks great. Stock in the back. Question is: I noticed a little bit of wobble in steering wheel already on the highway at anything over 50. Time for UCA? If any of you know, what UCA works best with a small amount of lift?

    Thanks

That wouldn’t be a UCA issue. You actually don’t need new UCA’s with only 1.3” in front.

Got it. Maybe a balance issue?

Did you get an alignment after the install? And if yes, did you get the printout?

I did get an alignment. My local off-road shop does it. Didn't get the alignment printout though. I'll have to follow up with them and see what's up. Would an UCA hurt at all? Or is it actually unnecessary btw?

Truck looks great at 1.3 from that angle. Are the tires stock size and do you have any more pics?

New UCA is unnecessary at 1.3. The vibration is either a balance issue or alignment issue. If it’s the same wheel and tires than before install then the alignment is the culprit

Can someone answer this. If I do 6112's in the front at 1.9 to level her out can I just have air bags installed for when im towing? I just want to level the truck out with a little bigger tires, my plan was to do 1" in the rear but curious how air bags work. Also does anyone know what is the biggest tires I can fit on stock trd wheels?
    Thanks in advance

Removing the stock spring is acutally quite easy. You don’t even need a spring compressor. I wouldn’t pay any extra for assembly.

I’m at around 3.5” or lift up front stock UCAs to. Which is about max. I will be adding aftermarket UCAs not for alignment reasons but for the extra travel.

While I don't have air bags - I can say that its perfectly level with 1.9 in the front, so the rear does sag when there is something heavy back there. I think air bags would reduce that, but not eliminate it. I don't think you can be perfectly level both with, and without a load in the bed. You either lift 1 in the rear and ride slightly nose down, or you ride level most of the time but the rear sags with something in it.

When you say wobble, do you mean the wheel shakes left to right constantly? If yes - tire balance. And not all tires, especially off road ones, can get perfect balance. Even one of my stock tires won't balance and I have to keep it on the rear.

Yes exactly. For sure. Well Cooper has a 45 day test drive for the StMaxx, so if it doesn't cooperate I could ask for another set.

FYI ... When I searched for install shops for my coilovers... the local shop told me that they have had issues with balancing Cooper S/T Maxx's as of late. I went with the Falken AT3W, and I like them a lot. To be honest the S/T Maxx's look better, but I went the other route.

I had one of my factory tires patched from a nail and three different places have failed to balance it despite what the balance machine said. Anything over 65 and the wheel shakes.

If you can isolate it, maybe you can get them to give you a replacement for the one? To isolate, you have to move them one by one from front to back. Took one or two moves but I now have a mark on the tire that gives me issues and it stays in the back.

Followers of 6112 greatness. Finally upgraded my tires. Nitto Ridge Grapplers in 275/70R18. I had good luck with their Trail Grapplers on my FJ so I'm giving these a shot.

I know this is an old post but what size tires do you have on in this photo? Most have 1.9 so not much to go on when determine what tires will fit with 1.3. Thx

THx sir! I'm assuming you're correct. Was hoping to find someone who has fitted 285/70/18s with 6112s set at the 1.3 click.

285/70/18 will be tight! I recall seeing hugs with the 1.9in setting needing to trim things. Gotta imagine that only gets worse at 1.3.

Not on point but just for reference: 5100's all around, front set at 2.38" with Falken 305/65/15 on Method 305NV's. They emooved the front "mud flap" as it would just catch it.

    For comparison's sake -

5160s in the rear w/Toytec 1.5" shackles set @ 1". Also running Firestone bags with Daystar cradles to free up the bags so the axle can articulate fully when necessary.

5100s up front @ highest setting ... front end is now about an inch lower than rear since doing the shackles. I also have a Decked unit installed and loaded up, so I'm glad I didn't do the shackles at 1.5" !

Looking at doing the 6112s up front at the #4 setting, along with SPC control arms since it looks like the OEM UCAs might not afford enough room for that beefier shock/spring.

Ive got 6112's at 1.9. No UCA to spring contact, and alignment is spot on. I think of running at 2.5", or if using shims, new UCA's would be advisable

I'm thinking I'll do the UCAs anyway ... I'm going with the #4 setting, plus they'll be there in case I ever decide to change the setup in the future.

There is no such thing as 6112s for the rear. 6112 is a front assembly only.

I love that this has been revived. The train of thought that assembled 6112s are the way to go if you are just looking for a level?! Thoughts?!

I’ve poured through every Tundra suspension leveling thread possible over the past few years and always come to the same result - assembler 6112s, at the 1.9in clip setting, are the ultimate leveling option. If towing a lot, or have a heavy load in the bed, consider also raising the rear via shackles. For me, front only has been perfect and the 6112 ride quality is excellent.
