    Yeah, I would definitely like to do a LT rig, but may wait. Short term plans are something like @Rheywood456 has. :cool:

    I think I'll keep the truck for now, but keep an eye out for a good deal on a 2nd gen.

    Good call on keeping it.

    Once you get too deep with the investment (like me $6k) your pay off or return on the investment extends out into time. In my case, it will be 3 years before all the money (not including personal time on all the bs DIY labor stuff) will begin to be worthwhile. 5 years time is a better payoff period.

    I made a conscious decision before reinvesting the $6k and so far glad I did. Only time will tell.

    Or, I could have bought a brand new 2018 turd gen and put that $6k down and be stuck with $700 payments for 5 years! Plus our crazy property tax of nearly $2k a year on a new vehicle. Opted out of the crazy.

    The first gen 4.7 V8 is great. Yeah there’s are some negatives, not many. But seems like you’ve put lots into your truck already. And selling it would lose that investment.

    LT is out of the question. Trust me. I’ve added it all up. I will get there one day... but unless you’ve got $15-$20k ready to blow... I’d stick with a good MT set up.

    Just do your due diligence on keeping up with maintenance items and your truck will last a long time. Yeah they’re old trucks and things break but It’s no $50-$60k Brand New Truck with $500-$900 monthly payments lol

    Pay it off and run it! That’s my plan with mine!

    Yeah, I know I won't get the price out of it that I've put in.

    As far as LT, I would like to, but I think you are right about the price; that's getting into kitplane range. :D

    And I agree about the monthly payments. The plan is to make enough this summer to make a big dent in what is left on the loan.

    I don't know how, but your truck still has a wider stance. :confused:

    I've been having a similar debate with my 05. I paid 15K for it and its paid off. I've put a other 5K - 7k at least in to maintenance, upgrades etc.

    I could sell it for 15K if I wanted, but then I'd need another 15 - 20k financed to buy low mileage used 3rd gen. Plus another 5 - 7k in upgrades.

    I really like not having payments. This truck does 90% of what I need. It still has under 180,000KMS on it. Easier to dump a grand or so a year into the truck than have a $500+ monthly payment...

    Ah. Maybe it's the width. I have 2015 4Runner wheels and from what I can find the BS is 4.5, but they are 17x7. So that might be it.

    That might also explain why you get less rub. Wider but shorter. Would you go with a 4 or 3.5 BS or do you like the 4.5?

    You know, that’s a good question.

    I’m really happy with my stance right now. But another inch of poke may look good and help with the frame rub but it could push it out far enough to rub on the fender when compressed and hit further into the pinch weld area....

    I guess there are some trade offs for the 4.5/3.5 debacle...

    One way to find out... :spending:

    Yeah, I am curious about it as well and am wondering about going from frame to fender rub. I thought a cheap way to find out would be to throw some really cheap spacers on just to get it out that far and see how it looks. You couldn't check compression (unless you are braver than I am) but you might be able to tell.
