I got about 12%, would have been closer to 15 if I took the rebate instead of 0%. Not sure what current offers are now but $2500 rebate could do it

I went Platinum. You cant beat all the extra features in the Platinum. And easier to add wheels exhaust and sway bars.

Pro looks better (subjective) out the door, 2” higher in the front, hood scoop, bed stamps, Rigid fogs, bbs wheels and red Foxes. Too bad it has SR5 dash, plastic steering wheel (can be changed) and single HVAC. People don’t usually buy them and change out suspension.

Platinum you can customize to be nicer than a Pro, customize suspension based on type of off roading, only if you’re into modding but it’ll never be a true Pro if heritage namesake matters.

Both a good choice, boils down to preference.

I'm waiting for 2020 platinum. I love the look of the Pro too, but would rather have the options of the platinum. I can swap grills/wheels/etc later on.

Thanks for all the input and the pics. I've been on the hunt for a Platinum, but surprised to see the price between a new 2019 and used 2015/2017 isn't too much of a gap.

I was inclined to find a '15-'17 to save some $$$, get into one now and then have less depreciation to worry about if the 2020 changes looked great, or a full reboot in '21 or '22. Though almost doesn't seem like I'd be saving that much. Prices I'm seeing are high 30s/low 40s for a '15 or '16 with 30K+ miles, or high 40s for brand new. Just hesitant to drop $$$ on a brand new '19 since the '20s look to have a couple features I would genuinely care about, so leaning towards trying to find a good buy on something a few years older.

None of the dealers I talked to seemed to have a clear idea (or at least didn't care to share) on when the 2020s would be coming in, but probably can't wait more than a month or two.

I had this dilemma 3 years ago. My 07’ SR5 DC was paid off and I was itching for a TRD Pro. Dealerships were asking stupid money. Searched all over for a 2017 non FFV Platinum 4x4 and got mine at Mossy San Diego. $48,687 Already had TRD exhaust, sway bar, air intake and a tonneau cover. Local dealer in Orange (2 min from house) wanted $53k for a 2016 Platinum. Took a 90 min train ride to San Diego...

Bought the Pro suspension, NIB $1500 off t-talk.net, bought the pro Grille $289 (Amazon) and added Method NV’s (Craigslist $300) and 33” Toyo RT’s. (Local wheel warehouse had them as returns, got them $202 each with sticker still on them.)
So for around $3200 i’ve built a platinum Pro. I chose the 2017 because it has just enough technology and plenty of comfort. Purchased
mine in late January 2017, took almost a year of hard searching to find what I wanted and could afford.

Had I waited 3 weeks I could have got a 2wd, no frills, dusty, 2016 Platinum for $39k @ Hollywood Toyota.

Deals are out there, talk to the fleet sales or internet sale manager. Patience will pay off eventually

Have you looked at the Limited and TRD Off Road combo? Good mix of features/capability and priced a little lower. I picked one up 3 months ago and have been very happy with it.

When comparing MSRP this is true but the OTD price will generally be less (Platinum) or the same. Dealers do not move on TRD Pro prices as much.

Very true. However, I really feel the incentive difference from play/1794 to Pro is really being overstated here.

Yes, some movement on price, moreso then a Pro for sure. But not so great it's a slam dunk no brainier.

Also, a big part of this whole equation is how well each of did in negotiations too, at what time of year, with dealer X having a year end blowout or whatever.

If you're patient enough, as I posted, you can get a Pro at Plat/1794 negotiated down pricing on Pro too.

    I drove a just a Platinum home.

Salesman put a Pro behind the Platinum and was going on about it’s capabilities,
I only saw all cool stuff the Pro didn’t have.
Butt cooling may come in handy someday.

I got 15%+ off by placing a bid with the internet sales manager. He never asked about financing or trade or anything. Sales person was upset becasue she and I had been talking and texting for weeks so she matched it. I placed this bid when I also had a deal cut with a dealer on a TRD OR SR5 that would have been 13% to 15% depending on dealers adds. He was giving me the dealer adds for free because it was a dealer trade.
