Just curious if any one have used this brand, Ingersoll Rand 2317G Edge Series Air Impactool and Ratchet Kit, Black

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004CY1DSS/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_3?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

Being the surgeries I've had I doubt I'll ever be at 100% again with my age and I love doing my own mods and work on the Tundra, this seems it may be easier physically!

I do have some torque wrenches, can the above be used for torquing say, suspension and wheel nuts and things!

    Thanks for any input!

No personal experience with it but if your interest heres a tear down video on a Ingersoll that is probably very similar.

    It seemed decent.

    Not many yet, mostly stock.

Of course that air ratchet can be used for the things you listed. I'm hoping you have a fairly deciant air compressor to supply air. Any tool you buy is useful as long as it gets the job done and you didn't hurt your self.
Some will say buy the best, you won't regret it. There is some wisdom with mind set.
Most expensive tools usually has the best warranty, the cheaper tools maybe not. My father sold tools for a living for 30 years. You get what you pay for.
    Good luck.

I've got three IR impacts in my shop right now, two extended anvil and one short. All are approaching 25 years old. It's been my experience you're not going to wear one out in a home shop. Age and muscular dystophy have really changed my habits and I'm relying heavily on air tools and the newer battery tools.

Here is some real world experience. Take it for what it is worth to you, because if you take my advice, you'll spend more money :D

I think from that pack, you will use the impact wrench as often as you are dealing with tight bolts and you will use the ratchet once or twice for your entire life.

For this reason, I recommend you spend a few dollars more and get this impact:

    https://www.amazon.com/NitroCat-120...569106&s=hi&sprefix=air+cat+,tools,270&sr=1-4

The impact you showed only has 500ft.lb. of max torque. This seems like a lot, but if you are talking about suspension bolts with some age on them, it's not going to cut it. The one I listed has nearly 3 times the torque and is a pound lighter while being quieter. All around a better impact.

As far as the ratchet goes, I've got a 3/8 and 1/4 in my toolbox that has been used once or twice each. They hog through the air, so even with a belt drive 60gallon compressor, you have to listen to noise while pushing the button, then noise while your compressor fills frequently. You always have an air hose in your way so you can't use it in very tight spots. Finally, they try to break your wrist. You have to keep a firm grip when trying to break something loose or be ready when you are tightening something because it is going to twist hard and fast when the bolt is tight. I found that you had to have a ratchet to break things loose or put final torque on something usually anyway, so might as well finish the job with the ratchet.

If constant ratcheting is your concern, I would recommend battery powered:

    https://www.amazon.com/Milwaukee-ML..._1_2?keywords=2557&qid=1557570724&s=hi&sr=1-2

This is a lot more expensive, but I would rather spend more for something that you will actually use and is pleasant to use. This one will still have the wrist breaking action of any auto-ratchet, but it will be quiet and can fit in tighter spaces.

Believe it or not Harbor Freight air tools are decent. But can’t go wrong with IR.

Good advice. I own that exact air ratchet, it works fine. I rarely use it, or any other air ratchet.

That Nitrocat 1200 is a nice gun, and extremely good value. Far lighter than that IR edge too.

I’ll also suggest their 1056XL, the 1/2” stubby version. They are lighter, and fit where others don’t. I use mine at work all the time. Rated at 500 ft-lbs, I’m constantly amazed at it’s performance. Plenty for any Tundra projects. A good 3 years of steady use and not one hiccup either.

    https://aircat.com/1-2-composite-compact-impact-wrench

Don’t use them for torquing stuff up though, loosening, and assembling only. Then torque with a torque wrench.

Bradley’s right , the air motor on that IR is an old design, it is not the torque monster the newer ones are. You’ll likely not wear the IR out, but If your budget allows, get a higher output one, especially if high torque is an issue. And look at some of the rechargeable tools, they’re great too. They allow me to do things I couldn’t do with just hand tools anymore.

Yes, I think that is the one. I've seen it on sale before in the flyers I think it was $89 or so.

I left air powered tools 3 years ago as cordless (battery) have gotten SOOOOOOOOO good. From little gyroscopic screwdriver to 3/8" ratchet to 1/2" impact twisting up some 800 lb-ft. No cord/hose = huge happy. Yes, there is a mooooooney difference. Otherwise I don't have an opinion on the specific IG tools.

I have a Milwaukee old 28V cordless drill, sawmill and circular saw in the garage that didnt get damaged in my garage fire but the 2 28V batteries did! It seems the batteries are $80-100 apiece though!

these were before the fire and remodel

I have a Nitrocat. Nitrocat & you won’t go back. After I bought my Nitrocat, I found there were “high-flow” fittings available. I started looking at the fittings of my hoses. Many are quite restricted compared to the high flow fittings. I bought new hoses & the high-flow fittings & even my old Craftsman impact sounds like it’s got new life. I highly recommend some good hoses & high-flow fittings.

I highly recommend the Flexzilla high flow fittings & 3/8 air hose for use with any air impact tool.
