That isn't to bad, I'm getting around 17 mpg in my '01

 

Living in Texas, I agree with the safety concern. Too many people drive like maniacs out here and it's getting worse every year. I'm getting rid of my 2012 Camry SE v6 since I use my 06 Tundra as my daily. I literally went from a fully loaded car to a base model truck, which I like much more than the camry and feel much safer in too. MPG as a commuter has been pretty good being a v6 4.0l engine. I drive like a grandpa now to save that gas. worth it!

 

Broke 157k today on my 01.
Love driving it everywhere but might get a moped to keep the miles off it.

I have daily driven all 3 of my Tundras, but with gas at $4/gal here again, I switch off with a used Mazda CX-7, it averages 24 mpg vs the 15-16 mpg I get in the Tundra. I average 75-100 miles a day. I not only save on gas, but I expect to get another 10 years out of my Tundra & that will be easier if I’m not burning the miles on the truck.

I’ve burned up too many new vehicles with the miles I drive. I probably won’t ever be able to afford another new one.

 

First gen Tundra + moped is my exact setup right now haha! I love the Tundra but can't afford to drive it everyday, especially with current gas prices ($4.09+/gal here on CA's central coast). I have a 125cc moped I use around town and love filling it up once a week for only $3.00 total. Plus, I can load the moped in the truck bed whenever I need to transport it!

Our gov makes more money on our vehicles than anybody else. Not even Toyota can earn like uncle sam

 

376,000 miles I bought it new 2000 access cab limited.drive it everyday! Would drive it anywhere!!

 

Check out the taxes on gas. California taxes their gas at 69cents per gallon (fed and state combined). Hawaii right behind at .68. Lowest is Wyoming at .38.

Everytime you fill up the Tundra with 26 gallons x .69= approx. $18 a tank!

The tax man makes $18 a tank on you in Cal.

Thats after you made and paid taxes on the money to pay for the gas to pay the additional tax.

Wait till we are forced to pay for peoples bad decisions to go to college. That tax will be tacked on to gas and nobody will notice because its easily forgotten. The Evil Oil/Gas companies! Making Profits! Easy boogie men to blame and they will buy it.

Yet no discussion on the tax on gas.

 

I will use a union term. Double dipping. That's being on the clock for 2 customers and getting paid from both simultaneously. I thought that was genius until I looked at the money game our gov has on cars. Tax the sale when new then tax every sale of the same product throughout it's life. .38 to 69 cents per gallon of gas. Registration, registration renewal annually. License plate fee, drivers license and the license renewal. All that and more just so I can get to work to pay for all this

Until people grow a pair and decide they can really change things through proper problem solving, we will be stuck with the situation we are in now with a populace chasing ‘fake outrages’ (exclusively on one side) instead of getting rid of the entrenched paid off con-gress persons (both sides) that talk out of both sides of their mouths. The 16th and 17th Amendments need abolishing.

Anti-Double Taxation (double dipping) is a historical part of our great country. Read Boston Tea Party. We have devolved and continue to do so as long as the tax man can divide us into smaller factions.

Seriously I agree. I often find myself speaking to people of different backgrounds and race with varying views on race, equality, religion and what is wrong with our country.
I am at the place of racism. But not black brown and white. It's green. Your either flush with green to live the American dream or your the sucker footing the bill. Most of the suckers don't realize or don't want to admit they are the schleppers. If and when they do, a revolution will be coming

 

I live in a suburb south of Birmingham. Since I bought the 2017 Tundy a couple of years ago I've been MUCH MORE noticing the other Tundy's on the road around us here. Holy shit. It is amazing how many gen. 1 and gen. 1.5's (my saying for the first true 4 doors) there are running around. And many in phenomenal aesthetic shape. Paint that still just glistens in the bright southern sun.

Oh. My daily driver is a bit further back in time. 1997 T100. 4WD. Factory 5 speed (3 pedals on the floor!!!!!). 265,000 miles and just still going and going and going and going.

 

Put 30k on my tundra last year committing to work! Zero issues.

 

I am not able to disclose my location and do not condone violence, but only point to historical turning points as reference in what I consider still a great country. The 16th and 17th Amendments have taken decades to finally give us what we have now. Once abolished will take a short time to recorrect.

The money thing wouldn’t be such an issue if we didn’t get taxed on ownership. Once you own it leave it untaxed and now I don’t have to keep working to own it and pay more taxes while schooling and taking money from the less wise (due to youth) to fund (their voting tendencies) amongst us.

The next bubble (decades long in forming) is going to be Social Security and our National Debt which will probably happen at the same time. The indoctrinated will side with gov’t (money security). The free willed will not. That is the battle line. Feigned emotional outrages on social media only distract from this next problem.

I bought my 2000 new and still I am very happy with it. Thought about selling it every time I get a new vehicle and Just never do it--it just works and is an easy driver. I split my daily between the Tundra and a Land Cruiser. In comparison to the Land Cruiser, the Tundra is my fuel efficient "green" vehicle.
