Hello all. I'm a long time member of Tacoma world and ordered my third gen Tacoma when they came available. After a test drive I cut a deal to trade my FJ for an off-road longbed inferno. Love my truck but now I have 2 kids and things are tight for us all.
I didn't question what I would need to upgrade to and so I kicked the dust off my Toyota news Google feed and began researching Tundras. I've got some good options for local 18' models but I'm holding out for a possible 8 speed tranny on the iForce next year. Didn't want to wait too long as I heard rumors of a turbo v6... And aluminum buddy but who really knows. The tried and true formula of this V8 is what I want.

What are y'alls thoughts? Go forth with the 18 models and save some cash or hold out? I know it's all personal preference but I'd like some options. I do like Android play and all that nonsense... As a tech gurus that's an important thing to me and I've gotten so use to my push button start and Blind Spot Monitoring it would be noticably missed if I didn't have it again.

Welcome from East TN! Save some cash and get an 18 if you can. These trucks are proven. I'd wait a few years after the next gen releases to let Toyota work the bugs out of it before buying.

I say buy now, since you know exactly what you'll get. The first year of a new gen is always rocky anyway.

I went with the 2019 pro because I didn't want to be a test subject for anything coming down the road.

Some like all the new things they are thinking about coming out with and I am an old, salty I.T. guy so I get enough tech bullshit at work.

    Welcome from AZ!

As others have said, the power rear window is a CrewMax feature, add I think you need the SR5 Convenience Package with that, but not positive. Bottom line is you can't really add that later on in a cost effective manner.

And if you want Android Auto, just get an aftermarket head unit. You'll probably want to do that anyway once you realize how weak sauce the stock deck is...

you all have convinced me to go for it. It turns out buying a used one in the state of OH requires you to pay taxes on the sales price of the truck, not the difference of your trade in. If you buy a new one then its the difference so now I'm looking at new as getting an 18' with tax brings you to the price of new especially with 0%

Weird business practices in Ohio for sure. Seems they are discouraging trade-ins for used vehicles. Why would they do that? :notsure:

Not sure how much you like the used one but maybe the dealer can offset these taxes with a lower price, higher trade or combination of the two.

It comes out about even until you factor the 0% vs 4% which is what used is at in my area.
Just came to a verbal agreement with a 19' SR5 with SX package in white. It is double cab with a power rear window which is something I really wanted.
Wasn't a hug fan of the SX package but those rims will look good with a pair of AT's down the road.

Edit they had the photos mixed up. Didn't have the power window. As others have said that's only available on crew Max. Oh well search continues.
