Definitely the engine, transfer and gas. Those protect vital components. The lca and diff skids aren’t as important and probably depends more on your terrain. I smashed in my alignment tab mounts and they were a pain in the ass to get straightened with a BFH.

This piece should not be bent at the bottom.
    0B5A1C3D-26F0-423E-A0C3-D1F7FA0D7D9C.jpg

And this piece should be flush with the tabs.
    E523A2AD-DA92-446E-AEFE-85D80209C55F.jpg

I’m not so worried about the LCAs as I am about those mounts. I’m pretty sure those LCA skids would’ve protected them. And the mounts are welded to the frame and since I wouldn’t trust my welding to replace those, it’ll probably be a big bill for a pro to do. For me, $170 skid was a no brainer.

The diff skid I got more so I can try gunning it when I get hung up on my diff. :D And hopefully it’ll just slide. Same thing though, not vital but cheap insurance.

Nah, you're good. Lift and bigger tires are always good. But you air down, gonna want some sliders. Maybe something to buy when you sell those... other parts you got lying around.

This is probably true for your Tundra. I'm thinking of my 4Runner which has a great approach angle, decent breakover angle, and a horrible departure angle. It's why I've replaced the rear bumper with a tube bumper. I have pics of the gradual destruction of the original bumper. :(

For sure don’t get skids or sliders for your truck if you are worried about pinstripes. You’ll never need them if you don’t take your truck on trails where you’ll get your paint scratched.

Mine is currently Saran wrapped and bubble wrapped surrounded by belted posts. Guarded by Godzilla and King Kong, 5 goats ahead to eat all the shrubs for all to pass through...while getting over the pea gravel with my sliders.

I’m sure there are trails where skids and slider can be necessary without shrubs around but if folks are afraid of pinstripes, chances are they’re not on those trails either. Just saying.

I'll be honest... I'd prefer to not get pinstripes... might mean I might be a bit more timid for a bit.. but this is my only vehicle. I think I'll still come out, bring the weed whacker... but live with whatever happens. The sliders for me is preventing other damage, paint... well shit happens even when you park far away from other people.

I follow you, the chances are definitely more slim to run into obstacles requiring skids and sliders if you're goal is to avoid pinstripes, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't have them.
I think having the added confidence of that added protection will get more people outside their comfort zone and try some new trails. Gold Mountain for example will use sliders, possibly skids, it's a challenging trail and no real risk of pinstripes unless you get far off your line.

Thinking back on it, I don't think I received any pinstripes on John Bull yet I hit my sliders and skids more than any other trail I've run, on the flip side, Corral Canyon I don't think I hit my sliders on anything but missed a rock and crushed it with my IFS skid all while getting more pinstripes than all other trails combined haha

I’m with ya. Not telling anyone how to spend their hard earned money. If that added confidence gets folks to explore, dope. Just see tons of fully built trucks with nary a scratch on the truck, slider or skid around town.

Hahaha I know exactly the type you're talking about!

Yup! My back is still feeling the hurt from it

    ^^^

That's one way to get over the pinstripe fear. Corral Canyon will get the drivers side, passenger side and roof all at the same time!
