    Poor puppy
When mine was a puppy she found a bee nest.

I keep a first aid kit in the truck for her and it was a godsend that day

Can't see it in the pic... but snakebite was just under his collar. Great idea on the first aid kit. Going to put one in my truck today. He is going to the beach with me this weekend. Lot's of rattlers in the dunes.

Rattlers in dunes at the beach? Damn. "Don't mess with Texas" is right! At least our rattlers do predictable things like hide under rocks. Geez.

Not sure... didn't see the snake. He had a couple of fang holes and a sore spot right under his chin though. Hives pretty much all over his body. I've had dogs that have been bitten by rattlers before... There heads swell up bad.... whatever bit him gave him an allergic reaction.

When I was a kid, they use to have a Rattlesnake Roundup by the beach houses and the condo's. They would pour diesel on the dune grass and light them up. Usually had a couple of barrels of snakes that were shot coming out of the fire. It was an annual event. I had a big one try to board my boat in East Matagorda Bay a couple of years ago. Talk about pucker factor...LOL

In Matagorda, Texas there is 23 miles of beachfront and a large bay area behind that. The rattlesnakes are thick in the strip of land between the two water bodies in the summer time. I've seen a few as big around as my forearm.

    Poor baby! Glad he's okay.

When my dane was about 8 months old he saw a rattler for the first time.. He thought it was a chew toy. We came home to find the snake coiled up against the house constantly rattling, with no skin left on the first few inches of its body and no eyes. Indie's mouth stunk like snake and I was sure he must've been bit somewhere. Turned out he never got bit, just showed that snake who's boss . We kept its rattle but Indie ended up finding and eating it later.. Boy's got a taste for snake now.
