so I had a bulb out when to change it and the socket inside got popped out of place I took apart the overhead console got it popped back in and tried the bulb it wouldn’t work then if i held it a certain way it would come on so I messed with the prongs holding the bulb in got the bulb to hold tight and stick installed everything now it doesn’t work. Took it back apart and can’t get any type of connection the bulb won’t light up at all. Any way to test the socket? So I know that I have power going to it?

I’m almost positive it doesn’t have power going to it.

Nope only one fuse for the circuit and it’s good all other lights work on the circuit so it’s gotta be the switch is fried. To bad they are almost impossible to find. Might have to get a new console or hope for the best at a junk yard

I’d think if you were frying switches a fuse would have blown before that. Are you sure the map light isn’t just switched to “off”, I know those push-in lights are a pain in the ass to get back into place correctly. Think I read a post recently where you gotta replace the whole console as individual parts aren’t sold for it...

Ya whether the button is pressed or not it should light up with doors open. I put the Other switch in its place and it works I found a part number but everywhere is out of stock or discontinued.

Could be worse, just a map light...least you’re not stuck on the side of the road like a bunch of Ford owners at this exact moment....

I blew my switch in a similar way. Created a jumper so that pressing one switch activates both lights simultaneously (win win) as one light is never enough and the passengers never know where their side switch is located anyway. I also removed the lens covers from behind and the light is multiplied. 2002 Tundra.

You could do the jumper even with two good switches.

I fubar'd my footwell circuit somehow, fuse is intact, could be ECM from reading in the Taco forum, maybe the Dome switch but didn't bother getting another one, I tapped the cargo wire for power instead. You can try circuit testing before the dome switch first if everything else is good.

That looks less complicated than the newer tundra layout

Ya everything else is good. The company that has the switch just emailed me back and has them they are like $2 so I think I’ll just buy it and hope it fixes it if not I’ll try to get power from somewhere else.

Too bad. Maybe someone can figure it out. Or, just buy a new switch. KISS.

New switch is on its way if it doesn’t fix it I’ll check the junk yard periodically for a whole unit but the other switch works in place of the bad one so it should be the culprit
