Well I got fat over the last couple of years, I work all the time but was eating more calories that I was burning along with the wrong kinda calories. I finally got my head strait on Jan 25th of this year and went from 249 to 200 . Feel so much better . 200 was my orig target but now I think I will go another 10 , well 11 . I want 189 which will be 60 pounds off . No candy bars, cake , no fast food . Dang I was a lard a**.

I need to do the same. Almost the exact same weights as well.

Mu biggest obstacle was getting in the right frame of mind. I have to motivate myself, then I go wide open . What did it for me was I went had a doc visit ( I never go to doc) for a torn meniscus and they weight me and also blood pressure was up and had never been up before so that did it. So ,I figured it takes 3500 extra calories to gain a pound and 3500 less to lose( read that somewhere years ago) and a good ruel of thumb is to eat somewhere around 10 times your weight in calories a day to maintain your weight . ( If you weigh 200 , then you should eat around 2000 per day to stay there) SO me being 50 pounds over my target , I would need to eat less than my target . ( you probably could be less extreme than this) I ate around 1200 calories per day, no fast food, little bread, no candy bars or desserts . I do not eat breakfast ( didn't even when I was a whale) I eat about 300 cals for lunch , 100 to 150 at around 3 in the afternoon and I eat about 600 to 700 cal supper and finally I might eat a small bowl of cereal about 100 cals later if I get hunger pangs just to keep from eating something I shouldn't.

Brushing your teeth after your supper helps with that too.

Awesome! That is some serious loss in a relatively short time.

I have lost about 15 lbs in the last few months, 205 to 190ish. I cut out carbs completely, sweets as well.
Finding out I don't really need all the calories as I get older.

I dropped 75 about 5 years ago, 255 to 180. Used MyFitnessPal and started running.

I mostly bounce between 180-90 now but I'm going to make a push this summer to get to 170 and see what that's like.

Biggest change is the amount of energy I have. I'm getting ready to run half marathon 5 since July of last year.

I blame my wife, I get going, but then she is always wanting to go out to eat or get takeout etc. Then she buys junk food and has it around the house. Now she is finally onboard and working out herself so I should get on track now.

LOL. Guess it does. Have read where brushing your teeth takes food tastes out so it controls your hunger cravings a bit. Plus, after you brush 'em before bed, you probably don't want to dirty them again LOL

I had a filling get out in once and that was enough motivation for me...one little tap to close to the nerve....worst pain ever.

To the OP, what did you do?

Well, I cut down to around 1200 calories, no candy , cake ? No fast food . I dont eat breakfast usually even when I was fatter. I did the math when I started . It takes something like 3500 extra calories to gain a pound ( I read somewhere) so 3500 less should result in a 1 pound loss. You should eat about 10 times your target body weight ( 200 pounder should eat 2000 per day , read that somewhere as well). I Figured if I was going to do this and not take 2 years >I could eat about 1200 and lose 60 pounds in a few months . Seems your body does adjust metabolism as you lose more because the pounds drop off at first pretty quick then slows a bit. One thing I do is weigh every morning which can be a great motivator but there has been as much as a week where I lost nothing and that could be because of water retention or something. Other than weighing , my quickest test daily was to see how easliy my wedding ring would come off . Weird right but it slips right off now where before I had to really tug on it. Geeze , I was a lard butt.

Yeah , seems getting started is always the worst part of about anything . Sorta like dreading the ole timing belt/waterpump replacement on these tundra's, one you get into it and get the fan off and a couple more things you are committed and before you know it you are done .

Shoot 249 was insane for me. I have never been that big. I do all my own mechanical work and just last year I pulled a trans out of a Jeep liberty 4×4 , man it was a struggle even with the jeep up a bit on jack stands . Shoot I just replaced all my motorhome air springs and did a complete lube job and a cleaning and it was much easier to wiggle around under there.

Man , you are right in the energy. I started my weight loss on Jan 25th and even during the loss and dieting ( still got about 15 to go) my energy was and is much better. I did all the stuff to my tundra I have posted about plus a lot of work on my motorhome , my shop other cars. I jump up in morning and am busy all day either at work or in shop.

I bought a food scale when I started and that was a huge eye opener. My normal "serving" was generally 2.5-3 times an actual serving.

Eating peanut butter is sad now lol

-55 pounds , goal is 189 but might change after I get there , am at 194 . My energy is through the roof, in the last week besides reg job , I put dad's 41 Cadillac on lift , scrubbed, scrapped , wire brushed all the frame, floor boards and suspension , sprayed por 15, then top coated with chassis black, ( semi flat ) scrubbed very dirty wide white walls on Cadillac, partially buffed Cadillac, will finish today I hope. Took rear end completely apart on 47 ford, rebuilt , ring and pinion , all bearings, straightened slightly bent axle ( that took forever) been tinkering with a dash I bought to put in the 47 ford, ( had some aftermarket piece of crap that was ugly) took dash apart getting ready to paint , buffed the stainless speedo and clock bezels, changed oil in wifes Buick Enclave, cleaned shop 4 times because I make really bad messes , been going to bed at 10 or 11 and getting up anywhere from 3:30 to 5 ( don't know why) I feel like I have just snorted something really good ( NA , dont drink or do drugs) Oh and to make this post relevant, I washed the Tundra.

Congrats man. Health is important. Extra pounds are just shortening our lives. I still got some to lose too. I’m down 235—>195 on Atkins/lchf

Keep it up, proper diet is simple, just hard to do.

Barely below 190 now. Well According to how far I lean forward but I will call it 190 . Another 1/2 # and I will have lost 60 . As you can see from my previous post , pounds come off much slower as you near the goal. This Fat is making a goal line stand sorta like Clemson against Alabama.
