Ok, for real now. I'm looking for the negative side effects for getting a super charger, except a drop in gas mileage of course.

I want to know what parts require maintenance sooner, what wears out faster, and the overall unexpected things to look out for.

Actual your MPG improves on mileage. Less power needed ;)

    It's worth it, IMO.

Just keep the filter cleaned and stay on top of maintenance (just like any engine) and you should be good.

Where people beging fucking it up is when they add smaller pulleys, and headers ...at least from what I've seen.

I can be disciplined, but I'll need to mess up at least one set of tires first. :burnrubber:

more than I can list here
Only side effect I've really noticed is this weird screeching coming from the back of the truck when I give it too much throttle. It is followed by a mysterious cloud of white smoke and the smell of something burning. Like rubber or something.

I've got about 14k miles on the truck, so lots of warranty and service agreement left, would a SC affect those?

Im pretty sure it would void it because the TRD version stops at 2015.

No. Two different warranty options depending on dealer install vs private party install

The programming won't work for 2016+ so you would need the BD tuner

This response usually gets me flamed, but I haven't heard of any verified super charged tundra in the 200K club. Heard a rumor of 1, not verified. Reasons why are many. Mainly juvenile style driver behavior and stress on the engine. I like my Toyota engines to last. Let the flaming begin...

So less than 50K super charged miles. I guess this one doesn't confirm or contradict my point. I hope it lasts for him. I wonder how many get installed on motors with this many miles?

Not sure. Are you on TundraCrew FB page by chance? You can post that question there and see what sort of response you get.

They probably get crashed. Maybe not though, who knows. More of a smart ass remark.

I put a S/C on my 1st Gen Tacoma at 50k, ran it without issue until I sold it at 150k. The new owner nosedived it onto it's lid jumping it.

Both of these were Taco's, but the same thing applies. See failure reason #1 above! LOL

Hi, I just bought a 2014 Tundra Crewmax with TRD supercharger that was installed by the dealership. I was wondering what is a BD tuner? Even with conservative driving my MPG is still under 13 on the highway. Thanks.

    Flux capacitor!
I'm also looking at installing the Magnuson Super Charger. So I called Magnuson and the representative said they now have the program for the 2017 Tundra. One of the cool things is I can have my buddy at the dealership set them up as a vendor. Then I can get a better price break on the parts. Plus the dealership can do my install and I can retain my third party warranty.

What were you getting before the install? Or installed when you bought the truck?
