What was the color of the plasti dip that you used? Was it black or that smoke color?

 

Well I got black but it does look a bit smoky. the lighting is bad so I will see how it looks in the daylight

 

Finished out the week by adding some tool box drawer liner material to my metal ESPTruck rear seat storage unit to reduce rattling of my stuff inside the storage compartments. Now it is completely silent!

 

Received my Salex organizer and tray Saturday. Really like this alot!

 

I'm just curious what one to get cause I want my badges flat/matte black not glossy. What would you say yours are?

 

Also how many cans did you use? I have 6 badges to do

 

i used about 3/4 of a can and did 5 coats. Coat one and two was light and the last three heavy. I also tried to do my chrome mirrors. That was more of a challenge. I would say have two cans and that would be enough for 6 badges and then you have enough to add more coats if you want. Better to have to much then run out in the middle of the project

 

I got 4 cans to do my bumper ends.. but may need a couple more. I figured about 1 can per end. just waiting for a day I can get it all done.

Did it turns out pretty matte or flat black or was it more glossy? Trying to decide between the black or smoke color. Also did you do any prep work?

 

I was able to do the bumpers with about a single can. Badges another can, then 4 cans were for the wheels. Matte black look finish on them all. It's been about a month and so far holding up pretty good.

I took off the grill and side panels under the headlamps to get at the full front caps, but the rears I was able to just tape and use some newspaper to block overspray.

Repeat pictures, but this way quicker reference to see em.

 

I read your question in the next post and edited my original. LoL.
I removed the front grill and side pieces under the headlamps to expose the caps. The caps on the rear were able to just tape and newspaper. Never removed either caps. I also just sprayed over the sensors and they work just fine.

I wanted to test that also to see if I would need to peel off over the sensors, but it's been A1!

 

It turned out matte black. The Prep I did was wash my truck then take isopropyl alcohol and qtips and thoroughly cleaned all the areas and gaps. Then I taped it off and put newspaper and covered the areas I thought might get over spray. I waited 30 minutes between each coat and after the last coat waited 10 to take the tape off since it is more pliable before it thoroughly dries.

 

I am not taking the caps off. I am going to get a new grill soon so when I do I till find any spots I may have not fully covered and fix it. The rear should be able to be done without any issues. The front will be a bit more challenging.

How hard were the panels to take off?

 

Did you do the whole bumper or just the caps?

 

It was pretty easy actually. As long as you're comfortable removing the grill. Then theres a couple push pins and a bolt you remove that are related to the panel pieces.

 

Just the caps. That lower mid section was black already.
