What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

How long did it take y'all to get your Dirty Deeds fuel injectors?

I placed my order the 21st.and it's still being processed...

 

About a month in my case. Sensai taught me to be patient grasshopper.

 

I don't think he stocks these. Once someone places the order it sounds like he has them made.

 

I just figured it would've shipped by now.

 

In other news I got part oneof the ultimate headlight upgrade last night. Saw it on my door step when I got home from work a few minutes ago.

just got an email that the injectors are shipping. Should be here the 3rd.

 

Loosened and then lower my transmission radiator about an 1/8” as it was not resting on the bumper pads. It had some swing front to back, but no longer with the drop and retighten of bracket bolts. Its resting as it should on the bumpers.


Saw that thread where the guys fuel pump resistor was acting up so I went ahead and cleaned up mine. There was some (slight) corrosion on the bottom bracket and the grounding bolt a little loose but not much. The aluminum fins really had mucho corroded loose powder/dust come off with the wire brush. Looks new again and really soaked up the Fluid Film!

Also, cleaned up a few other grounding bolts and electric greased them as well. Specifically, the engine ground (back of engine) and some other ground? next to the battery ground which I did a few months back.

This is all is keeping with my theory of many 1st Gen problems are due to bad grounds/corrosion.

 

Regarding the first picture. I asked what that part was about a month ago. What is it exactly?

 

I'm trying with very limited success to find pocket rivet style fender flares for my 03 access cab... Any sujestions?

 

Even though I just recently got my backup camera working, I wasn't entirely happy with the night picture. I ordered a higher quality camera specced at .01 lux where my old camera was specced at 2 lux. The nighttime picture is far brighter now.

The top line is about 12 ft back and the bottom line is a couple inches behind my bumper.

1st pic is a very dark side street, only lit by my stock backup lights with very bright LED bulbs.

2nd pic is a medium lighted parking lot

3rd pic is the camera at the top of my shell.

 

Why would the video appear reversed?

 

Backup cameras show a reversed image so that the orientation is correct when viewing on the monitor. This can be accomplished by settings in the viewing monitor / head unit or by clipping or keeping a small wire in the camera's wire harness. My new camera also has a wire to clip to remove the guide lines (my head unit can be set to have or not have guidelines & they can be adjusted) and orientation of right side up depending on the way the camera is mounted.

 

I believe its a fuel pump resistor.

 

Who is installing them for you?

It is indeed the fuel pump resistor. My limited knowledge on it seems to be that it slows the pump during idle and cruise where the pump doesn't need to run full speed. Kind of working in conjunction with the pressure regulator but on the electric side instead of the flow side.

 

Not sure yet. Probably won't be a for a bit. I gotta find a replacement at work so I can get off nights and I need some days off that are on the actual days the rest if the world gets off (fri-sun), as opposed to my current Wednesday or Thursday off.
Or I need to buy a DD.

 

I want a nice touch screen and a backup camera so bad. I went from an older touch screen in my taco to a factory 6 disk/tape combo in my tundra lol

 

Jensen VX5228. All in, think I have $350 in mine (installed it myself). Going to install a $40 backup camera off Amazon tomorrow.

 

Ordered an Iron Bull Bumper a week ago. Delivered yesterday. Can't install it until I upgrade the front suspension.

The joys of an aging truck. I've been hearing thunks from the rear when I go over bumps. Whatever it is is new, and not normal.

The only thing that's catching my eye is the overload spring being cockeyed.

Is this normal? Definitely appears to be worse on the driver side.

 

Can you hammer it back over straight and then double check that your ubolts are torqued?

 

I'll try that. I'm wondering if my silencer pads are gone. I think @Professional Hand Model had the same issue.

 

Mine were way more splayed than yours pictured. I jacked up the rear at the pumpkin just enough to allow the rear tires to sag just off the ground. Put jacks on frame just in front of rear tires.

Fabbed up a vice and hammered and torqued the leafs as best back into alignment as possible. Slipped some u-bolts over so they don’t splay again. Wished our springs had decent quality keepers on them as the OEM ones are subject to bending with lateral forces leading to splay.

The silencer pads are toast on mine. My jimmy rig shims are working good, but a small ‘clunk’ has returned as one of my shims has slipped out. Clunk only happens on 90° slow speed turns when incline/declining.

These springs are still strong. Just the pads are toast and the only way to really fix is to totally dismantle and in that case might as well install new springs.

 

Gas pedal feeling real good today. Resistor cleaning?

Exercised the 4lo 4hi buttons today. The front has a noticeably different sound when activated.

 

I started to do my disc brake conversion today and found out my axle is trashed from getting filled full of water from a wheel seal that I recently discovered was leaking. I guess I’ll be doing a 14 bolt swap now instead of just brakes.
