Correct Spicer Carrier Bearing for 1st gen tundra EXACT TOYOTA OEM

Ok, so I am really making this for everyone that might be searching for the correct spicer carrier bearing and doesn't want to pay $170-190 for one that comes in a Toyota box. I ordered the following carrier bearing from DriveTrainAmerica.com. It claims they only fit the 4x4, but it shows 2000-2006 right in the item description. The Spicer factory number is #5002334.

I signed up for their email and received 5% off rebate (Code is "5%OFF). With shipping and all I paid less than $65!

As you can see below, the rubber around the bearing is actually stamped "TOYOTA" with the other side showing "SPICER" in the rubber molding.

Solid find. Good research. I wish I had seen this prior to going "OEM". As soon as the guy at the driveshaft shop opened the box he said "that's a Spicer". Definitely got hosed on that one. I wonder if there is any difference between the two. I don't remember mine saying anything on that rubber area.

 

The part numbers are different as well. I looked to see if there is another picture of the other side of mine and couldn’t find it. Guess I pop under later and snap one.

 

I just recently replaced my crappy aftermarket carrier bearing,u-joints with spicer brand. Took driveshaft with parts to shop and had them install and modify driveshaft with slip spline at rear end, so far so good

 

Well admittedly I have not installed this. I went by drivetrainamerica.com’s listing stating it fits 2000-2006 tundra 4wd. I certainly hope it fits and can help someone in the future. If it isn’t the right replacement I will update this thread immediately requesting it be deleted.

I have zero vibrations right now, but I know my bearing rubber is just trashed so I want to replace ASAP when time allows. I hope replacing doesn’t cause some random vibes that I wasn’t getting before.

I’ve been attempting to hunt down correct u joints but after further research I think I’m going to leave them alone for the time being. Haven’t looked yet to confirm if I have a double carden or not.

 

Mine is a 2 wheel drive and it should be the same part number. I called them to verify before i purchased from them. I removed and installed the driveshaft my self but had a driveshaft shop do the work and balance complete assembly. Hope this helps

 

I hope it works too. Everything looks the same so far. You should be good. I just post stuff up to compare and contrast to make sure. Spicer is a great brand.

Per your u-joints and double cardan, I’d leave them alone unless they start acting up. I did a ton of research on this and all the variations. The conclusion based on others was to just buy a new drive shaft. Makes sense as the OEM has many different joints and part numbers. Too much work hence buy a new shaft.

If it works, don’t fix it.

 

Mine does not have a double cardon joint, so i cant comment. Maby because mine is 2 wheel drive.hope it’s works out

Looks like you have a spacer drop to accomodate your lift?

 

Rcd 6” lift with icon extended length coilover with camburg upper control arms also 3” body lift. Did all the work myself

Waiting for the confirmation this will fit 2wd....ready to buy. I cheaped out on the last one and it blew the rubber out the first time I pulled a trailer. Didn't even make 3000 miles

Just to update, I installed this and it worked perfectly.

2000 Tundra SR5 Access Cab 4x4. Mine has the Double Carden joint in case that matters. Just want to give as much info as possible to hopefully help someone else out!

 

Is your bearing on upside down? Here is a pic of mine newly installed. The larger lobe of the assy was on the bottom on my OEM original. The new OEM was identical.

 

I concur. The single hole of the bearing assembly should be facing the ground, which puts the 2 holes upward facing the bottom of the truck. It would appear from your photo that the 2 holes are facing the ground. Easy fix, just unbolt those 2 bolts and spin it. That will likely put your driveshaft in a more straight line!

 

I don't mean to revive an older thread, but wanted to share my experience with ordering a new carrier bearing today.

Yesterday I crawled under my truck just to look around, and noticed the rubber on my carrier bearing was torn. I have been hearing a high pitched whine as I accelerate for the past few months, and believe this could be the culprit. I found this thread to check for part numbers, and searched the Spicer 5002334 on www.drivetrainamerica.com. It was out of stock, but also listed for 4WD only. I called them up, and an extremely helpful rep named John saw that the manufacturer was backed logged and wanted to confirm that this was the right part number for my 2003 2WD.

John later called me back and told me he spoke to their in-house specialist, as well as confirmed with the manufacturer, that the correct part number for the 2WD carrier bearing is actually the Spicer 211750-1X. I was so impressed with their customer service and attention to detail that I ordered the part through Drivetrain America and not Amazon, where it was $6 cheaper.

So, for all those 2WD owners out there needing to replace their carrier bearing, the part number is Spicer 211750-1X! I will update you all after my installation next week.

good deal! My hope was to at least supply the right part number for those that need it. I have heard great things about customer service there, but if it's out of stock you gotta get that stuff replaced fast sometimes!

IT's not too bad. Just make sure you mark your position of the driveshaft so you re-install the same. an impact makes a world of difference on that project!

 

So I ordered one of those 211750-1X bearings. I got it from Amazon, tho It said it would not fit. Put it in today and it seems to work great. I can't really tell over the wheel bearing roaring. Ugh... If it's not one thing....
