I’ve been de-chroming my truck and debated between color matched and black door handles. No one sells a pre-painted set for the Barcelona Red. So, I tried using the dupli-color color match spray paint. I figured if it doesn’t work I’ll just buy some black ones. It’s shockingly good. The only thing I had to do was polish with a fine grit to get the factory finish. I used the three step process. First adhesion promoter primer.

    Dupli-Color CP199 Clear Adhesion Promoter Primer - 11 oz. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0007UAXJQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6G3XCb3MMT6KX

    Second, color match paint.

    Dupli-Color EBTY16187 Barcelona... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00407RSA4?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

    Third, clear coat.

    Dupli-Color EBCL01257 Clear... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00407NK6A?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Thats impressive. Its amazing how well a rattle can job can turn out with some wet sanding and clear coats.

I dont see why this wouldn't work on bumper end caps as well. Not sure about durability since its tough to prep chrome right. (at all).

I have wondered the exact same thing. I have the DupliColor MGM spray paint, and it is an exact match- my Camry was MGM and I used the paint for a small part that got chipped. I have the entire can still.

I’ll keep posting to update how well it holds up over time.

I was shocked at how well the “sticky” primer worked. I tested it first with the small end caps. I sanded one and just cleaned the other. No difference at all.

I'm going to do this with my door handles and mirror caps since I'm too cheap to pay for the OEM painted ones.

Some don't realize the skill required to get a flawless finish like that with a rattle can. Maybe there's nits and dust motes at 18", but I am truly impressed. Professional level execution.

Hmmm...begs the question: If that system will work on chrome door handles, why wouldn't it work on chrome bumper ends? :notsure: :burp:
