I will consider something new at 500,000 miles. Maybe
Traded my old 01 4runner at 475,00 with minimal repairs.
Still ran great .. I regret losing that rig

Until it is either stolen or it dies. I realize that, in keeping with the title of this post, “until it is either stolen or it dies” is not a duration, and, therefore, I’m not really answering the question. However, this is the only answer that I have, and I’m sticking with it...

Been lurking on this forum for a while. Always been a fan of Toyota trucks and SUVs, even though I'm a BMW fanatic. Currently working on my forever fleet, which consist of:
2008 BMW M3 Coupe, Sparkling Graphite with 6MT
2007 BMW Z4M Roadster, Alpine White on Red with 6MT
1999 BMW M3 Coupe, Techno Violet with 5MT

Also have a 1997 4Runner which I use as a beater car and I love it. As a new homeowner, I've been considering replacing it with a 3rd gen, which I'll keep forever since it won't be a daily. The miles won't go up too much and I'm good at keeping my cars clean.

I'm waiting to see when the Gen 4 comes out to see what that does to 3rd gens on the lot. I'm set on either a Platinum or 1794. Option 2 would be to get a 2017.

    These are truly wonderful machiens!

    Curse you Perry the Platypus!
I bought my 2010 with 108k miles and would like get up to 250k before I even think about trading it in for another Tundra. This truck has everything I want and need so unless it falls apart, I have no need for something new.

Only 80k miles on my 2013 I bought new so it’s not even broken in but contemplating trading it in this fall when the 2020 comes out. Would like a true crew cab to better fit the car seat and a sunroof. Would also like the Apple car play and push button start which is why I’m at least holding off for the 2020. I also really like the new Sierra AT4’s but not sure they will have all the bugs worked out they’re having with the new models. So I’ll likely end up with another Tundra.

Initially, I thought 200,000 miles, but that is going to be too easy.

I'm at 142,000 and virtually nothing has gone wrong with it...one drivers side front axle.

Now I'm wondering if I have a chance at 300,000 miles.

Which begs the question, which will live longer, my truck or me.

My previous truck was a Chevy 3500 crew cab that I bought new in 1994 and drove until 2017 when it had too much rust damage to be safe. It had over 300K miles on it. I expect the same from my Tundra, or better.

Until my wife stops saying, "that is one BA truck"...the day I went to look at two, I was set on buying the white one since it was a 2016 with the integrated brake controller but when she kept saying, "that black truck is BA"...haha! I had 324k on my Sierra when I sold it...keep this Tundra for at least 10 years...or it may be my forever truck...it actually has everything I need and wanted in a truck.

Well this is my secondary, in theory, vehicle. My primary (really my secondary) now is my 2008 JKU that is all done up and currently sitting at 147k. This 2015 with only 39k miles on it will or should last me a long long time. We will see.

Honestly until I get bored with it.

My fingers are crossed that the new tundra will still take the same suspension components and I'll likely swap it all over if that's the case .the rumors of the twin turbo 3.5 and 10 speed have me intrigued. Albeit I love the current engine.
My only real complaint about the 2019 that I have is the tech being so far behind everyone else in the market
Would love to have updated tech. Who knows I may keep this one multiple years.

With my history of vehicles I typically trade every one to two years.

Just remember, the FORD currently has a unrepairable recall on many of the 3.6’s due to a immediate down shift at highway speeds that will lock the rear end and has high potential to cause a accident. Dealerships here are selling them at auction for scrap. I was looking at a couple and they wouldn’t let me buy due to it. I wouldnt trust one with my kid in it either.

Not that Toyota will have same issue but I like the old K.I.S.S. Philosophy.

The recall is on the 3.5 ecoboost with 6 speed transmission. There is no issue with the engine. The issue lies with the tuning/ computer interface issue. I understand your concern but at this point 5 accidents out of 1.48 million trucks is pretty good odds.
The technology is already available in Toyotas lineup. So transitioning it to the tundra should be relatively easy. Remember Toyota does not necessarily innovate in the area of engine/ transmissions untill sales numbers start to fall off.

I'm going to drive my 2018 until she quits, or unless gas prices go up to $10 a gallon for some reason. I'll continue to get the Carwell undercoating applied yearly to hold the northeast rust at bay. I love this truck and couldn't be any happier wit her. Maybe I'll become envious when the new Tundra comes out but I doubt it.

I typically flip my trucks every 5 years because they are low mileage units. When I bought my Tundra 3 weeks ago I sold my 2014 F150 with 28,000 miles. It was a win/win for me and the buyer. I had 3 people in line to purchase should something happen with the primary buyer. I have done this for every truck I have ever owned and the mileage is typically close to this number. So, with that being said, I am probably looking to keep my Tundra for 5 years.

16 years, 285K miles and counting...can’t come up with a good reason to get rid of it as long as it keeps running this good on all the original parts. Just inherited Dad’s 2000 Camry last year after he passed; that still runs like a champ. Can’t kill these Toyotas!
