leaking waterpump

Found out last week during an oil change that I have a small leak from the waterpump. The pump and the drivebelts need to be replaced. Going o cost $900 to replace. Can't complain though really. It's a n 07 with just under 70k and this is the first thing I've had to do other than general maintenance. I just look at it this way, they replace it at the 100k service so now I just won't have to have that done. BTW incase you didn't know the 5.7 has timing chains not belts. I asked about changing the timingbelts when they did the pump. That's when they told me about having a timing chain.

 

Ive heard and read that as well. Could be a lot worse.

 

Not sure about that, I have not really payed attention to the year. But it does seem to happen somewhere between 60-70k.

 

Yes, 07-08, though it's happened on earlier years too. Just look through your passenger side wheel well, and verify it's not leaking. I want to say Toyota extended the warranty on these to like 100k/7yrs, but I'm not positive.

 

Mine is not covered under warranty. I had 69,944 on the odometer when I dropped it off this morning. They did however extend the warranty on the AIP issue until 100K though.

Yeah, it most likely would have. I bought a Toyota because I thought I wouldn't need an extended warranty. Lol, looks like that backfired on me.

It's relatively inexpensive as far as needing something replaced. If you were in a ford Chevy or dodge, you'd be trading the truck in, instead of fixing it...

I'm not complaining by any means. I love my truck, and am very happy with my purchase so far.

 

My 2008 5.7 water pump started leaking at 35,000 miles, no biggie and just changed it myself other then that it's a solid truck

$260 toyota SR5 TOYOTA tundra interior BURL wood dash trim KIT set 2003 2004 2005 2006

toyota SR5 4x4 with the RB22(?) motor and lifted a ridiculous number of inches (His dad is a MD.) I wanted a toyota. It took me many many years, to get my 2017 Tundra SR5 4d XP and I drive it for Uber so I've put 93,500+ Uber Driving Miles on it with absolutely no problems until ripped the side off a mini van she was going over 40 and I pull out in front of her and my bumper practicly tore off the driver's side of the car. When I picked it up from the collision center, I heard "the noise." This slight mur mur mur of a belt noise, from the water pump. Their 1st story was leaking live a sive. After talking to the mechanic on the lot, he said you can where fluid was being crystalized, or some staining occurring at the water pump. Never put a drop of fluid in myself. Not sure what's done under regular service schedules. Still making the same noise for months and trying to get A National Insurance company to cover the $850 Toyota "Quality" water pump. I can't afford a $850 pump every 100K miles. I'm not happy with that, but that's all so far. Look guys, I drive '17 Tundra 5.7 4x4 like all my cars, I drive like Mario Andretti, fast and in harsh conditions 12+ hours a day.

I really would like to make my tundra (Whitty Booboo) the worlds 1st. Million Mile Tundra Uber Daily Driver.

I'll post here the repairs(not including crashes.) So to date, still nothing at 92.5K Uber Miles.

I know the gas cost, but the's been ZERO repairs. ZERO minutes waiting for parts, or no busting my knuckles. Wait, Just remember, I put breaks on the rear. I went with the Toyota because I couldn't keep my Ford CMax Plug-in on the road a month without something going wrong.
