That’s odd that you don’t have the app for CarPlay. Have you contacted Dasaita?
I have not tried Netflix or other streaming video apps yet. I will try them this evening. I know YouTube works fine.

    @jmevis

I saw somewhere that if you don't have the app, you can load the .apk onto a USB thumb drive and execute it that way. I'm rusty on my Android, but I believe you have to possibly enable developer mode or allow un-signed apps to execute?

Also, I'm in final negotiations right now with Dasaita about getting the new Android 9.0, PX6 dual processor - (dual core and quad core mated together) 4/64GB unit. It's a bit pricier ($430 with Canbus) + Carplay adapter, but they state it's considerably faster.

    We will see I guess.

Edit found on Amazon: 1.ONLY will work with DASAITA's brand android based aftermarket head units. Please download the latest apk here: https://www.sendspace.com/file/12vlkc

Try this, but don't blame me if you get some coronavirus lol.

Man, didn’t know that they have android 9.0 with faster processor. I would have bought that instead.

It literally just came out. I was working a deal for the old 8.0 octa-core (single processor) and a different Dasaita rep messaged me stating they now have the 9.0 available for $430 and they'd toss in 7 day UPS shipping to me. Waiting for confirmation of all details, then pulling the trigger. Just did a 12 hour round trip from Dallas to Coastal area of Texas and would have loved to have this unit installed.

Ken, did you figure this out under your canbus settings? This is controllable through Techstream, but I'm not sure if your HU would override it.

I haven’t had the time to mess with the settings yet. I’m actually used to not having the beep now.

Yes through AliExpress. I contacted them regarding the canbus setting to get the steering wheel controls to work.

@hi_rawb I see the RCA patch cable. I'm assuming that's for going from the HU to the AMP? You're gonna need a 6 channel if you plan on using a sub. And you're going to need an adapter to use the factory cables from the Amp to the speakers. Or you'll have to run new wires from the amp to the speaker locations.

Yeah man no problem. I suggest you call ********* or Tech12Volt and tell them what you are doing. They can set you up with the correct wiring harnesses. Could prob put together a better speaker system than crutchfield for the same cost. That Alpine unit is real nice I don't know if its worth the 3x cost over the Datasita that the OP and I purchased.

So it sounds like you want new speakers, subs, amp(s), and head unit, is that correct? And will you be installing them yourself?

This worked! Thank you! Car play now works!!! I also had to hunt down a version of Netflix that works too.

@916tundra I am able to get car play through the stock USB port by using that cable adapter. Hiding it in behind the HU keeps it nice and clean.

Its real nice to have some recent tech in a tundra. Im a little jelly of the unit you're getting! We might need to start a new Dasaita thread since this was supposed to be about the OPs amazing audio build.

AT&T prepaid has a good deal going on right now. 16GB at the price of 8GB and allows rollover of the initial 8GB if you don't use it all. Includes hotspot usage which would be a must for this. Just need a spare old android phone that supports hotspot (almost all made in the last 5 years do) and is compatible with AT&T network. Cancel anytime since it is pre-paid. Wife and I use this as our primary carrier and have had no issues. Link to the deal: https://www.att.com/prepaid/double-data-offer.html?cjevent=1ef13e40669511e980e404b10a24060e

@jmevis I’m glad you got everything to work. It seems like you have been doing more troubleshooting than me..lol

@minter66 did you place the order for the HU? Keep us updated on the install. I’m interested to see what is different in Android 9.0 and cold boot time.

Hahaha I typically get really in to something and then interest fades and I just live with how it is. Im still in the lets figure stuff out phase.

I am also interested in the "cold boot" time. I guess 25-30 seconds isn't that bad. But I would like shorter.

@916tundra Where did you place your Mic? I cant figure out if its using the OEM mic or not. Maybe the quality will be better with this mic. I thought about hiding it in the center tweeter location under the speaker mesh.

I have the mic installed here for now. Doesn’t look too bad and sound quality is good. I might move it somewhere else later. I also placed the bass control knob in the blank switch. I haven’t mess with the HU much, been busy giving the exterior a make over.

Just received message from seller that they will be sending me the link to pay, so hopefully purchase tomorrow (since its night in China right now) and receive in about a week +1 or +2.

Will definitely keep you guys updated. I will be starting a new thread over it and giving it my review. I am really curious how it's going to look in a 2nd Gen. It looks fantastic in ya'lls trucks.
