Anyone use a carpet shampooer on the cloth seats and once dry, use a protectant? First timer with cloth seats in any vehicle I’ve owned and want to do it right...

I know to make sure I use plenty of clean water to get the soap out but wondering about recommendations for the soap and the job itself?

I’ll be using a Bissell carpet cleaner with the smaller attachment and when dry, Scotchguard the seats. Thanks in advance!

I use Folex on carpets and cloth seats. It’s available at Walmart, Amazon, pretty much everywhere.

Spray that on there, agitate with a brush, then use your Bissell. I haven’t put a protectant on cloth seats, so I don’t know what the best option would be.

I always use meguiars APC (all purpose cleaner) with a 10:1 ratio (distilled water), and this scrub brush (oxo good grips). Many options and products out there to choose from. Just showing what I use. I have never used any thing to protect my seats but I heard this stuff from 303 is good.

    Thanks for the info!

Just curious if there’s a reason why you don’t apply a protectant after cleaning... not recommended or just a personal choice?

Personal preference. I have leather seats. Just from my experience all leather seats have a protective coating almost like a plastic. I use to condition my seats with lexol, but the results were not any different than if I did or did not use a conditioner. If I did have cloth then I would probably use the 303 fabric and see how well it works. Like I said, I have heard it is very good stuff.

I don't have much faith in it staying on or being effective, especially where you sit in the seats.

In the area that occupants tend to untilize their vehicle seating while driving our riding in said vehicle.

Hahaha I am like Sheldon and have my own ‘spots.’ Been researching and like the idea of spraying, scrubbing, and then using clean water in the shampooer to get the cleaner out.

Key us to get any and all the cleaner removed. Any cleaner residue will attract more dirt in time.
Not sure what kind of area you need to clean but this stuff is like a dry-cleanet in a can. Great for small areas.
