I was thinking about blacking out the badges on my truck. I know I want to do the Toyota symbol on the grill, the Tundra, SR5, and 4x4 on the body. I just don't think I should do the iForce badge on the fender since the lettering is black. Do you think it would look halfassed if I left it chrome?

It's the truck in my avatar. Black with black trd wheels. Thanks in advance for any input.

Yes, dont leave it chrome. Do what is pictured below or all black or remove them. I ended up removing all badges.

I prefer the debadge or black badge look. An easy way to do it is plastidip.

I have the same truck and thoughts as you. I think i am going to leave the 5.7 badge as is, but dip the rest. If ours had red in it like the 2nd gen's I would do what csuviper did, but our is black where theirs is red. I don't think it would look that great all black.
Just my opinion though. You can always dip it, and if you don't like it, just peel it off. I may do that just to see..

I want to dip all of my chrome badges black on my gray truck. Anyone know how easy the dip is to remove from the bodies paint? I figure I can mask off as much as I can but the rest will have to be cut out with an exacto knife from all of the tiny spots you can't really tape off. Just afraid to screw up my paint job.

You tube "dipyourcar emblems" or goto dipyourcar.com and watch the videos. You won't need an exacto knife, just masking tape and a toothpick. As long as you do at least 4 coats (I did 5 plus 2 coats of glossifier) it will peel off the body very easily. Just mask off a rectangle around the emblem and spray, making sure to get as much on the body as the emblem. The tiny gap between the body and the emblem is where the dip will naturally separate.

Won't harm your paint at all. Actually best to tape it in a rectangle with gaps around the letters. It peals easy.

Check out my build page (3rd gen builds) and there are a few post dip pics.
I used the dip & glossifier on my front bumper, rear bumper, and emblems. The pics may not be the best angle to check out the gloss. They didn't come out glossy at all to be honest haha. Maybe more of a satin than flat. I would do it again tho.

I'm going to dive into the front of the truck tomorrow. Going to do all of the chrome on the grill and possibly the bumpers. I came to realize after dipping my badges that it just didn't look right with everything else being chrome. Can't wait to get it done, think it's gonna look awesome.

That's what CSUviper and I did to my old Tundras bumpers/grill...ImageUploadedByTapatalk1405697085.295198.jpg

This time, I will be powder coating them instead of plasti-dip on this Tundra

Did the plasti-dip not work out to well? I hope that's not the case lol, I'm literally right in the middle of it right now.

It worked out great. Cheap easy way to get it done. He just knows he wants it permanent and willing to spend the extra money to make it last long.

If you take care of the plastidip it will last a long time. If it gets scratched or gets oil or solvent sitting on it then plastidip needs repaired or replaced. Still cheap and easy fix.

Looks good. Next you should do the bumper, and yes do the emblem.
