Don't know if anyone else was thoroughly annoyed like I was about the console lid not going up/back enough when opened. I'm a big guy and I just can't be a contortionist any longer. With that said, I made a slight modification to the stops (removed about 2/3 of them to give the console some more "recline"). It now sits even with the chair backs when fully opened and does not want to close when hitting the brakes. It takes a little getting used to opening it but it was long overdue and well worth the effort.

Full upright postion after the modification.

    IMG_4393.jpg
Close up of the stop that was modified (Removed about 2/3 of it)

    IMG_4394.jpg
Same thing on this side as well, removed about 2/3 of the stop.

Rear shot (after the modification) before buttoning everything up.

OK this was like watching a football game when a touchdown is about to be scored and the power goes out. Everyone wants to know what happened so where are the other pictures for after the mod?

I'll try and get some actual measurements in the next few days (I'm out of town with business until Wednesday). I would say 1-2 at the very top yes. My issue was having to contort around it to initially open it as it flies up and you kind of catch it/move out of the way at the same time if that makes sense. Now its not so much the rodeo wrestle and it damn sure doesn't fly forward to close when braking anymore unless its really hard braking.

Just ran out and measured it, little over 3" more travel at the very top. I'm 5'11 as well at before the mod it was even with my shoulder (given my seat position) which made it awkward to not only open but also use. I also use it for work, extra keys, etc. I'm giving serious consideration to making a false bottom about 2" raised from the floor of the inside of the console for hiding items such as work related keys and such.

I have actually learned to anticipate when the lid is going to flop down. Now I count on it slamming shut when I want it to so I don’t have to reach back to pop it shut myself.

Your mod would probably just turn me upside down!

If I ever need that thing to hinge open wider, I’ll be back- thank you for posting!
