Dealer gave me a quote at $6k off on $43,700 MSRP. Just wondering if this is a good deal or just decent. Truck is a 2017 TSS. I also have a great deal on a Silverado. $12k off $48k MSRP. Probably won't buy a Chevy but need some leverage and something to compare.

36700 is a pretty good deal.

I wouldn't even consider a GM product with a gas motor if it has cylinder deactivation.(any manufacture for that matter)

Lots of things the Toyota dealer does not need to know and the fact that I will not actually buy a GM product is one of them.

Thats a good deal. Toyota doesnt discount like the domestics do. It sucks when you buy it but it helps keep the resale high.

Problem is the truck is all wrong. It is a TSS not a TRD

I'd do it. Sounds like a good pick imo.

So? Honestly, the only difference between a tss 4x4 and TRD 4x4 are the wheels and tires, bilsteins and the sticker on the bed. The money you save on the truck can be put towards mods that would put the TSS beyond what the TRD is capable of.
But if you're dead set on a bed sticker, your truck, your call

    That's 13-14% off. That's a very good deal.

too much stuff to just throw away. #1 20" wheels that I don't want and #2 step rails that I do not want. I know people will tell me to just sell the stuff but how much market is really out there?

You'd be surprised. Plenty of guys who get an sr5 and want the TSS wheels and same with the step bars. Post them up on the marketplace thread here, given time, they'd sell.
What wheels do you want anyways? If you're going to go aftermarket, then the argument is moot, if not, ask if they can swap out wheels and step bars. If they won't, renegotiate the price about a thousand. (Worth a try)

Dealers around here give you the cold shoulder when you want to delete step rails. I tried that when I bought the Tacoma. It was almost impossible to find a Gulf States Baja without steps and vehicle shield. Why should I pay $1k for stuff I do not want. Add another $200 for putting air in the tires and you are up to $1.2k

I said it was worth a try. you don't know unless you try. I'm from Louisiana, I'm aware how gulf states dealerships are, but one or two does not dictate the mindset of all of them. The TSS is a gulf state model kind of like the Texas edition, so I can see how they're hesitant to change it for the customer.
Technically you're still in the black by 4800 bucks if it works out that way but,
It seems like youve more or less made up your mind.
Dude like I said, your truck, your call. Just trying to help give you another perspective.
By all means, go get a TRD with the stuff you want. Hopefully you find one at the same price you were able to get the TSS down to.

I don't think I am in the black by $4800 because I see similar deals on in stock inventory from time to time. I refuse to pay for stuff I do not want or need and fully expect a similar deal on the truck I want. Yes it is a solid price but not what I want. I am in absolutely no hurry to buy.

LOL OP your original post to what you decided to do seems contradictory. Why did you ask if this was a good deal, receive overwhelming support that it was, but you never wanted the truck to begin with.

    :drunk:

Maybe I missed something along the way.:notsure:

Then work a deal on a TRD and leave the TSS on the lot, or don't. It doesn't matter to me.
I agree, you should get what you want but your original post implied you wanted the TSS, then second one and on after that stated you didn't want it in the first place. Since you refuse to pay for something you don't want, why start this thread to begin with?
Best of luck to you in your search, bud

Since,I have never even priced a Tundra I am just trying to establish a baseline. Discounts off MSRP vary widely even between models within brands. I know what to look for on a Tacome or even a Ford or Chevy. Since I am planning to buy a Tundra st some point I am just trying to establish a fair discount off MSRP. I usually start doing my homework long before I buy. I tried to find a "What did you pay for your Tundra thread" like we have the Tacoma forum but I just did mot have the patience if one even exists.

The TSS part of this might already answer this question, but since I dont know...

    4.6 or 5.7 ?

I would pay less attention to the sticker on the bed and more attention to the engine (4.6 - 5.7), trim (sr5, Platinum, Limited, Pro, 1794), tow package, etc.

TSS and TRD are just regular tundras with one or two additional mods and a bed sticker to make them stand out and make new buyers think they got something special. We do have a thread like that.
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/what-did-you-pay-for-your-tundra.244/

Some have gone out of state to get what they wanted. Price and negotiating ranges all depend on state, tax, dealership, etc.

For a 2017 CrewMax TSS 4x4, I paid out the door at $44,900. Just to give you a comparison of what a CM vs. DC cost.

Thanks for the link I will check it out. When I requested a quote I failed to specify the specific package I wanted. That was my bad. I never had any intention of buying a TSS that is just what dealer quoted. Now they are offering a possible TRD OR but again it has GS added options I don't want or need. I almost went to KC to buy my current Tacoma may have to explore that option again.

5.7, got to have larger gas tank. No way I am buying a Tundra with a 25 gallon tank. I don't drive long distance often but when I do I hate stopping often for gas.

My Tundra gets 18mpg on the hiway. It has a 26 gal. tank. That means it will go 468 miles on a tank of gas. Traveling at 60 mph it will take 7.8 hours to go 468 miles. At my age I would have to stop several times in that period to do things other than fill the gas tank! (Maybe your bladder holds more than mine).

I ordered the truck I "WANTED" because like you, I didn't want to pay for accessories that I didn't want. However, the following day my dealer was able to transfer the exact truck I wanted due to financing falling thru at the other dealership. Only catch was it had a bed cover that I really didn't want. I bought it anyway because I figured I could sell the bed cover and buy something that I did want. Anyway, keep in mind some Tundras only come in certain configurations based on color, trim, etc. The more rare the config, the less likely you'll get the dealer to move on price. Ask me how I know. Be patient and go to as many dealers as possible and most of all, get what you want.

Add rubber bed mat (free from dealership) Add cargo bed lights Add tint (legal) to the windows
Yep, order one like you want it! That's what I ended up doing. I wanted 4x4, but the smaller engine. Didn't want the tires, wheels, steps and all that come with the packages they sell here in TX(I'm gonna put aftermarket stuff on it), so the money I saved from doing that will go towards my add ons. Now I'm just waiting to hear that the plant approved the build, and is going to start. That's the only downside, is that I'm kinda at their mercy as to when it gets built!

I am going to take my time. I informed the dealer today that I will need to keep my Tacoma until the end of hunting season. My ranch roads are not wide enough for a Tundra and there is not time to make them wider right now. I am pretty sure I will have to order one when the time comes.
