I'm headed to purchase a new 2019 SR5 4x4 with the sport package. The truck has everything that i wanted when I built my ideal truck on Toyota's website with the exception of the blackout badges on the truck.

Does toyota use locating holes in their doors to locate the badges or can they simply be removed. I would prefer to just remove all of the tacky plastic chrome from the truck, but if I am unable to I might have to just paint them black.

Not sure on the newer models, but on my 2013, the badges are just adhered on. You can remove them. I removed some of mine (engine badge, flex fuel badge), but then just blacked the rest out.

Just Remove... Glide dental-floss and some wd-40 to get rid of the "glue" afterwards.

I tried that on my current truck(2010 F150), but they used locating holes, so I just painted them.

Mines a 2019. Took about 20 min. I used a heat gun on low to warm them up, careful not to put very much heat into the paint. Then worked some 40# mono fishing line behind the badges to cut through the adhesive. Peeled the rest of the adhesive up with my fingers (came off super easy). Wiped the area clean with “goo gone” and then washed the truck with soap and water. No residue, no ghosting.

It's an accessory that you can order from the factory.

I would definitely get an eraser wheel to be safe. I took one off and it was a pain in the ass getting the residue off, given my truck is a 13.

The stickers are usually the first thing I remove, but that looks pretty good with just the bed side stickers. I might have to give that look a try.

I guess the newer the truck the easier it is. Mine literally peeled off in one big piece. 10 seconds per side. I vote no badges!

The one thing I didn’t like about the bedside stickers and ultimately pushed me to remove them, is that instead of it being a vinyl sticker around the letters and numbers only it’s a giant CLEAR square. You can see the edge where all the dirt and dust collects and it leaves a nice black outline. Thought it looked like crap. Maybe different on other colors but you could easily tell on the white.

I’d rather not list. My wife might see it.
I removed the emblem and stickers but it was just too much white for me. It needed something to keep the flow going: front doors & black handle, rear doors & black handle, bed with black emblem. I also wanted something different.

Love that cap, what kind is it? How long did it take to get if you ordered it? I'm about to move up from a Tacoma (which I LOVE) and want a DC, 8' bed, but I've always had a cap. I know the one for the Tacoma was expensive I imagine the Tundra 8 footer will be much more but you only live once!

It’s an ARE V series. About 5 weeks. It was about 50% more than the V series I bought for my tacoma in 2008. It’s nice but doesn’t quite fit, I have it shimmed up 1/4” right now and need to take some material off the back where it overhangs. Kind of a PITA. Good thread in the tundras canopy forum detailing the issue.

I wouldn’t be without a canopy. So practical.

Actually, it was last summer and I parked so that the bed-side was in direct sun till it got real hot. Then I lifted up a corner and started to peel it back. If I got to a point where it felt "stuck" or it ripped, I used an old credit-card to help. WD-40 works just as well on the glue as Goof-Off btw, but WAY cheaper.

Probably. Mine required a whizzy wheel or I’d have been there all day.
I also had some chips in the paint from the lettering. Guessing from doors or whatever hitting them over the years.

And those of you using a whizzy wheel - don’t be like me and overheat it and leave a yellow residue behind in your gel coat. Go slow :(
