No, I do not have sonar, and plasti-dip, line-x, or powder coating would have probably been cheaper, but I have a dent in chrome bumper currently, so I was going to buy a new one anyways...

getting them powdercoated will be cheaper, I wanted to keep it factory/OEM, and I have my reserves about the powdercoat and longevity on the chrome. Plus, you look at those bumpers wrong and they ding. Ill make sure I take pics, I bought all the brackets, bolts, rivets, new splashguards, new fog light housings etc, so it should be a painless install working with all new parts...

Completed the conversion yesterday on the front chrome bumper to plastic color matched. It was actually really easy, and I had some clips and misc shit left over afterwards. I used this write up:

    http://www.tundratalk.net/forums/exterior-mods/110978-diy-chrome-plastic-bumper-2.html#post1219418

I bought all the parts he listed, but got the bumper on eBay cheap, and it came from a reputable seller and was very high quality. In all, it cost me under $500, and that included the rear bumper as well. I'm very happy with the results, and would encourage anyone to take the plunge that may be considering it. Truck looks so much better...

    None, yet.
Can you share your eBay seller. I'd love to get rid of my chrome bumper.

Was going to plastidip my chrome bumpers to match body, but a friend of mine who does vinyl graphics and car wraps said he will wrap the bumpers and emblems cheap. Also hooking me up with window tint. It's good to know people!

I know this thread is old but I just finished blasting off the chrome and painting my front bumper. I just like having the metal.

Looks awesome. Color matched is the way to go. Cool that you kept the metal.

Thanks...I just want to sell the aftermarket grill and just get back to colormatched factory now. Pyrite Mica is not an easy truck to own! You never find color matched parts for sale. It has to be custom or it's not happening!
