2016+ fuel tank swap for gen 2 ?

    we all know gen 2 and gen 3 til 2015 have smaller tanks. Now for us gen 2 guys, is it possible to swap fuel tanks with 2016+ oem ones ? Whenever parts are available.

    as far as undercarriage space. It is the same between gen 2 and gen 3's ? It might be a well worth upgrade to the truck IMO.

    going from 26 (?) to 38 would be really nice for those long trips.

    Everything is available, but it is more than just a simple tank swap. If you look at a diagram of the tank, basically everything in the picture is needed, as they all have different part numbers from the parts that go with the smaller tank. And it is massively expensive.

    You guessed correctly. 46 gal will be cheaper. So if you decide to trade in your truck, factor in the cost of a larger tank.

    @Roman, if a guy were to add the 46 gal Transferflo, is there a way to get the fuel gauge to read the level of the bigger tank accurately? Thought I read something awhile back that it won't adjust to the added fuel capacity.

    the thing with the transferflow is that it's a big tank (46 Gal and not 38) and it sits pretty low from all the pictures I have seen. I would be concerned overlanding/off roading with it. my 0.02. Now if you plan to tow your trailer on the freeway it is a good option.

    Almost negligible. The extra volume doesn't come from depth of the tank. It comes from adding volume forward and rearward.
    If you get the tank coated with their version of line-x, it adds some depth because it's laid on really thick and you have to use shims on the hangers.

    Between buying a new to me Tacoma, driving it 2800 miles home, spending tons of fun coupons on it, and dealing with end of fiscal year maddness at work, Tundras time has been minimal.
