Thanks for the explanation! So if I understand correctly, the sound doesn’t really change when standing outside the truck? It’s just the in-cab drone that’s minimized with the resonator?

    Yes. That was my impression.

I had my father-in-law drive the truck past me a bunch of times so I could hear what it sounds like from the outside. This was with 8 inch and resonator. I was shocked how aggressive it sounded, because it sounded nothing like that inside. I took the resonator off (just to experiment), and much more of that exterior sound was heard inside.

I’d rather not list. My wife might see it.
I’ll be ordering the resonator to appease the wife. We do long highway drives so this will be a good option to tame things down in the cab and still get the growl outside. Anyone have an idea how much the resonator cost?

$150 for aluminized / $200 for stainless. You can also get a block off plate ($30/$40 aluminized/stainless). So you can remove resonator when you want the noise, and then reinstall for longer trips.

Both my 8" and my brother in law's 6" came with a resonator... So I'm under the impression that they come with resonators as well.

I can confirm tonight as I take delivery of 8" stainless but am about 100% sure they come with the resonator.

I got my TRD replacement SS (loud version) in and installed today. Took about 30-45 minutes total removing old system and installing new. I love this exhaust! Thanks for everyone that made this happen

So my exhaust story goes like this.......

I may or may not have told my wife...... Today would have been the perfect day as she was supposed to go with her sister wedding dress shopping. Fedex delivers, I get home and install and she never knows. Get a call after lunch and says her sister can't go and she is at home, oh shit!

Try to see if fedex will hold it for pickup. Too late! I was in a co-workers office for about 10 minutes. Get back to my desk and I had 7 missed calls from my wife. Yep, I knew right then and there it had been delivered. Called her back and she is like, "What in the hell is this, and who the hell is Dirty Deeds?" I just said it is not what you think and those usually come in 6" boxes, haha! She did not get the joke at all. Right over her head.

The group buy did not go as planned as I saved on shipping and cost but it ended up costing me $500 for a new Coach purse!

With all that being said, took 30 minutes max and sounds great! I got the 8" stainless and it is quiet at idle. Little bit more than stock. Only drove about 5 miles in it but it is a great deep sound. I had all windows down and it was a little louder than I expected but in a good way. I have been a lot in the performance world and have acute hearing when it comes to exhaust so the resonator will probably go on this weekend. I could hear a little drone around 1600 RPM's. All in all super happy and no rasp or crackling. Super clean deep note. Would highly suggest a Dirtt Deeds for anyone wanting an exhaust.

I might try to get a video tomorrow.

Found these videos of an 8" with resonator and one without (not my truck, but the content creator has more videos of other Dirtydeeds systems). I can't really tell the difference, and there may not be a difference since the audio is from outside the truck (as opposed to being inside), but I also understand it's hard to tell by listening to video clips:

Yeah, I told him. I was pretty pissed, especially he was like “hey man just confirming you really want this”....and I responded with “no doubt in my mind, 0900 Saturday morning, see you there”.

So now every time he posts on craigslist I will flag his post!

I’d rather not list. My wife might see it.
That’s a nice surprise. FedEx and UPS suck in delivering bulky and heavy items. I Was pulling up to my driveway when I saw the UPS man dragging a large package through our lawn and front patio. I asked him if that’s the way they always deliver and he just gave me a stupid look.

I hope to get a tracking number so I can do a FedEx or UPS station hold. I’ll get it sooner and hopefully avoid abuse by l a delivery driver.

Dumb install question. Is the gasket that comes with the exhaust supposed to go where the tailpipe clamps on? It’s not the same shape as the factory one. It looks like it fits though.
