Reomendations purchasing a 16-18 Tundra

New to the forum. I drive a 2000 LC with 187k and the wife is driving a 15 Highlander.
Looking at a few used Tundra’s. I live on 4 acres of land. Looking for something to take things to the dump, and haul things so I don’t have to call my dad to use his truck. No plans for off roading as I can use my LC for that.

I have found a 2018 1794 addition crew cab, 4x4, one owner w/30k miles, Barcelona red, has a spray in bed, toyota used certified, no accident hx, non TRD for $35.4k. Seems too good to be true. Plan to go look at it later this week.

Also found a 2018 Limited crew cab TRD off road w25k miles for $39k. One owner. It was leased for a year and traded in. Obviously not as great of a deal but it is cement gray which I like. It’s at a Chevy dealership, not certified.

Any thoughts on pricing or pros and cons of either truck. I am asking the dealer with the cement gray if they would come close to $35k. I like the 1794 but prefer the smaller wheels that come with the TRD off-road.
I plan to look for the cam tower leak and ask the dealer to have a tech check it out.

All i can think of is cam tower that you already mentioned. Other than that check the normal car stuff. Pretty basic trucks, there isn’t too much to break! I’m sure others will be by with more too.

Personally I would try and find a 16 or 17 model year. Avoid the TSS....

 

The price on the 1794 seems very good on paper in comparison to what I got my 18 Platinum for, albeit its got a few more miles on it than "normal". If I am in your position, I think a little bit about the feature set in the 1794 vs the Limited, as well as the grade of leather between the two. You always add some of the TRD items to the 1794, but not the other way around.

Either way, be warned - the gas mileage is not great and this place will make spending money on the rig very, very easy!

Can't go wrong either way.

Welcome! I know you said used, but if your looking for a basic truck to do truck things with you might want to consider a base model SR. I got my 2019 SR, 5.7L 4x4 brand new for way less than what either of your used trucks are going for. It doesn’t have the flair of the others - but it is a truck!

 

The Toyota dealerships near me have very high used prices (2017 sr5 off road 20k miles for $37.5).
The dealership with the 1794 is around 120 miles away. Hopefully I can go see it In the next few days

Same thing here, used Tundras are just plain expensive as far as used vehicles go. I searched for weeks for a used Tundra in the $30k range. In that price point it was either 4x2, 4.6L or very high mileage. Then I realized new Tundras were just about the same price!
