so I have a 2016 platinum 100% stock. when it had like 3000 miles on it I noticed my right rear mud flap had rubbed on the tire and cut it into the shape of the tire tread. so I figured I must have backed into something and pushed it up into the tire. I ordered one from the dealer for $40 and replaced it. now I have 7000 mile on truck and the same one is tore up again. the tail pipe is right there and it has no marks on it so pretty sure i am not hitting anything. Any Ideas???? Can't keep buying $40 mud flaps

I have the same issue on the left, but figured mine out. The car wash I used caught the flap just right to fold it onto the tire and chew it up(tailpipe blocks it on the right). There is a Tundra I see at the gym, and same car wash a few times, his looks just like mine. It seems like most of the plastic, mudflaps, wheelwell liners, etc. is thinner/flimsier than my 2012.

Mine got damaged from my exhaust. I just left it and didn't bother replacing it.

It's weird. Dealer will just blame me. Might have to look for some nice moulded ones factory ones are too flimsy.

Could just lose the flaps altogether.

In California, it's a ticket if you don't have mud flaps.

This is my rear left side. No exhaust on that side. My right rear is in perfect condition. Weird.

Not going to worry too much about them at the moment. May just take them off. But then again, the next time I drive down a gravel road I'll be like:annoyed:

So will the car behind you!!

Hmm here's a crazy idea....get an inch wide metal strip run it down the inside of the flap and rivet it in place (spray it black to blend in). Would stop any bending either way.

I'd line x my whole truck if I didn't like the shine!

Sometime down the line when I can afford a toy to beat up, that'll be the first thing on the docket!!

Mdavis is like what my passenger one keeps doing. Somehow they are flipping forward into the tire. At least I'm not the only one. I was looking at getting the weather tech mudflaps. Hopefully better than oe. Achuop definitely going back into tailpipe

That is strange. Only thing I can think of is backing up into a curb and the curb bending the mud flap into the tire. Then when you drive forward, it's getting caught on the tire and rubbing the shit out of it.

Great, now I have to put on pants, go outside and check my mud flaps as well as my bed alignment or it's going to bug me all night.

Yes they are! My wife and I are looking to get out of California. We are looking at Arizona. Gilbert area or so. We are also looking at Seattle Washington area.

I love California but I'm not sure about raising my kids here. Too expensive to live here.

My family left San Diego for North Idaho. We loved it. Then I joined the Marines and have been in Southern CA for the past 9 years minus deployments and a 3 year stint in Japan.

If you are looking into the northwest, do yourself a favor and look into Coeur d Alene ID and surrounding area. I love Seattle, but it is uber hippy and EXTREMELY expensive. North Idaho has great laws (no permits required for CCW, no smog test, low taxes etc), is really cheap and has some of the nicest lakes you can find.
