Thats a great deal! Anybody that is handy should be able to polish them right back out. I bought a set for 200 (picked up) that were pretty scratched up. I got them looking like glass with a little wet sanding and various cuts of polishes. Top it off with a Powerball or buffer on the finest polish and then some wax.

    GLWS Phil!

I bought 2000, 1500, 1000, 800 and 400 wet dry sandpaper. I just happen to have some professional grade Maguires polishes as well. From medium cut to fine cut.

    For anyone reading.
You can start with a kit as sometimes they can be sufficient but sometimes they aren’t aggressive enough. I always start with a polish to see if I can get it anywhere. And always start with the finest polish first before getting aggressive with something heavier. Same goes for the sandpaper if you decide it needs even more aggressiveness.

Clean the headlights really well. I will start with 2000 grit, using a spray bottle or a wet sponge to keep the surface clean. Sand in one direction either side to side or up-and-down, keep standing until you see that you have removed the deepest of scratches. If the scratches aren’t coming out you will need to step to a heavier grit sandpaper. Once you find what sandpaper is working for you, you will then need to start stepping up to the finest grits. Each time jump you up in sandpaper, go the opposite direction with the paper than you did on the previous step. You will want to see the scratches from the previous step fade away. Basically you remove scratches by scratching it. Once you’ve reached 2000 and it looks very uniform, you are ready to start polishing. Lots of elbow grease or a buffer is needed. I have gotten really good at this over the years. It sounds scary but it works.

Here’s a video. He uses a sanding block which I don’t quite agree with. I just use my hands or a sponge sanding block. You can also use one of the restoration kits in conjunction with wet sanding.

I know it can look intimidating. It’s really not that bad. Especially since you can have these headlights sitting on a towel in front of you instead of on the truck.
