Took my canopy (or cap or topper for you mid & eastern folks) off today and installed a switch for my Pioneer stereo. There was no parking brake wire hooked up so I made a dummy switch and grounded it so I can access all settings without the brake on. Bonus you can watch movies whenever but I never will. The switch I had laying around, drilled out the tiny cubby in the center console as I don’t use it/know what it’s for.

Just bought these couldn’t resist anymore. The haze on the stock headlights takes away from the rest of the truck.

Test drive was nice. Rain ending into a beautiful sunset. Moist thick air allowing one to see beam pattern projection in it. Didn’t get flashed by any other drivers. Road signs lit up at a greater distance with more intensity than the old halogens. Need to adjust up on the driver side and see how things go.

The Sylvanias halogens had streaky beams of forward light whereas these have a fullness of light with no streaks.

Quiet Fan bodies were warm to slightly hot to the touch, but not cooking. No scatter of light. Very good beam patterns in both high and low.

Overall, a strong buy. I have nothing bad to say about these Katana LED’s and that pure white color completes the look of modernity along with the PerfectFit Fogs.

The Fogs (my favorite light source) really carry their weight, as well. So stoked on all of these upgrades. Now time will tell on the quality.

I replaced a broken sway bar end link. Bolt was seized so I had to cut it off. Tried to adjust passenger side fender since the passenger door is rubbing a little. Body panel bolt snapped in half. Now I need to find a replacement bolt and drill out the broken one to attach the bottom of my fender again. Also tried to remove my rear diff fill plug, but could not get it to budge. Going to have to plan out a strategy there or get a shop to do it the next time it is in. It started raining and the truck is outside, so that ended work for today.

On the rear diff iv heard what helps is spraying it down for 2 or 3 days in advance with wD40 or liquid wrench. Also try a impact (make shure u have the proper sockets so it dont strip at all)

oh and i got an ARB diff breather as payment for some work.. so i'll be plumbing all the breathers (both diffs, transfer case, transmission) to the engine bay firewall

I have no idea, I was close to buying projectors as I’ve done in the past and retrofitting the headlight but this is an in town truck and I have a new car for out of town/long drives. For me I couldn’t justify the $280 for the projectors when I drive maybe 70 miles a month. If this was my only vehicle though, I would have thrown these in.

Pry the tabs (a little closer to each other) inside the assy well of the housing using a small flat head screw driver. Reinsert bulb for a snug fit.

    Just bought a 06 DC 4x4.
Did a well needed flush on the fluids. Also greased all the Zerk fittings, dont think they've ever been touched before . Driver side sway bar link was completely sheared in half , should eliminate some of that extra roll I was having.

Gold plug for Oil andr Trans flush next.

Spray the rear diff plug with Kroil. Let it soak for a few days and hit it again. Worst case, heat it up with a torch. I'm confident you can get it loose.

    This is interesting.

I recently changed the transmission fluid, but I took it to a mechanic and they did a fancy-smancy flush.

If I understand your post correctly, you simply drain as much transmission fluid as will come out with gravity and then replace that amount with new fluid. Apparently, you do this at each oil change.

You aren't getting a complete drain but you are diluting the dirty fluid with clean fluid and it is cleaner than if you just left the dirty fluid in.

    Is this correct?

This sounds like a good idea.

Jumping in here. Like you have done, in the past, I’ve had a service shop do the total drain (12quarts) and fill about every 40k miles. $200+!

Now that I am doing all the service work I’ve found its very easy to just do a simple (4quart+/-) drain at the plug and re-fill with a fresh 4 quarts. Its easier than an oil change and can be done at the same time while the tools are out. Make sure you measure your cold drained fluid and reinstall to same amount cold.

DEXIII gallon jugs are $14. Refresh every 3-4k miles (oil change interval) and keeps it fresh.

I’ll be experimenting soon with the transmission lines up front to see about using them and doing the total flush out and refill using the engines pump (line and suction pressure). Our system holds 12.1 quarts DEXIII.

That's correct. I'm honestly surprised you found a place that would do a real flush. Not many places do that any more. Even my Toyota dealership won't do it.

But yes, this method only gets out around 30% of the fluid but if you do it a few times over the course of a few months you could essentially flush out the old.

That's my plan. After driving it last night I can say my truck shifts noticeably smoother with this new synthetic. It also didn't help that the idiots at Meineke had left it 1/2 qt low after the last drain and fill.

That 1/2 quart deficit can make our transmissions shift hard from hearing others reports of this happening to them.

You must like living on the edge to trust your truck with Meineke.

Ha! Honestly, I made friends with the owner and they usually do a decent job. Knowing what I know now, and as I get better at just doing work myself, I find myself going there less and less. They only charged me $20 to drain the front diff. I was going to spend that much on parts do it myself and it looked like a PITA.

But yeah, I see your point.
