hey all. Bought my tundra with a block/spacer lift. Got my new tires yesterday and was told by the alignment folks that my passenger front upper control arm ball joint is shot. Dealing with the local dealers(Toyota certified) has been difficult and the dealer I got it from is a ways away. Since I just spent a ton of money on these tires I want to make sure I get it fixed fast. We couldn’t find any identifiers on the control arm, just wondering if anyone here recognizes them? Perhaps I can get replacement parts for fairly cheap. Pic attached.

I don't see any gussets near the 2 upper pivots, do you see any zerk fittings on the pivots?

Camburg, Total Chaos, and ProComp have zerk fittings and gussets. I'm checking other brands

2016 - thinking this might be a zerk fitting. One on each pivot.

I think maybe tuff country too looking at it. With the open top above where the ball joint is. How hard is something like this for me to replace at home?

I’m 99% positive they are, had them on my 16 for a minute. Easy to replace, changed out mine for Moog before install. Just get the loaner ball joint press from whatever parts store you like, and a good pair of snap ring pliers. I suggest swapping them on the vehicle, or buy new barrels and bushings from Tuff Country, the barrels crush if reused.

I think I will leave the UCAs on the truck and press them out. Ball joints ordered for delivery tomorrow, I'm going to give it a go and just replace both with what appear to be much better ball joints. Thank you guys so much for your help - wish me luck!

Well that was awful but I replaced both ball joints with the moogs. The one identified as bad was completely dry with no grease. Pressing out wasn't so bad but I had to double up on wrenches as an extension for torque on the clamp to press the new ones in. I had my mechanic buddy help me and he said it doesn't normally take near as much force to press in. The second(not totally dry) wasn't nearly as hard as the first to press in but it still took a ton of force. Based on my (mechanical) calipers the new ball joints may have been as much as 1/2mm bigger than the ones that were in there - I suspect that was part of the problem, but that could be variances in how I was measuring. Thanks again for all the help guys. I will have the alignment re-checked on Friday I think but I suspect we are in a good place having it just been done about 50mi ago.
