Yeah, maybe put in a poll to see who’s up for bringing food. The simpler the better!
Some - err, one specifically may have an infant in tow and will only come for food! :boink: And potluck usually best when it’s to a home party, cuz if we wheeling first food may spoil.
Cooking up would be good! Just enuf or all bring food so no one left hungry?

Balut is not chicken. It is a duck egg. Ok, leave it at that.
No balut for Joon!! :) I think Jake wants one!

I love when we're building to a run and everyone checks in! A big, not-usually-crowded restaurant would be easiest-- but wow! If we ever want to combine a dirt run with pot luck, this is probably the time: the shortest dirt route ever planned, close to civilization. But yeah, potato salad or other stuff that spoils would be a no go (until we get to SGU 'fridge status... next year, the way we all spend money on mods!). Maybe those coming from SD could bring iced beverages. I dunno, I'm seeing possibilities.... :hungry:

If we cook or bring food i vote our homies in SD or the south and those from the north, like past Ventura, not bring food just so it is easier for you coming in from so far! By the time the locals add just a little it will be enough to feed our Army!

Whatever the group decides is fine! I owe Mr. and Mrs. @McFly a meal out so I'm happy to do a restaurant too. But dang this homemade food looks great and really, what better way for all of us to meet each other (and make connections to pair online buds with new Real World friends)...?

wow, alot happens in a day... :eek2::eek:o_O

I grew up eating Filipino food and had balut on a couple occasions. i loved it as a kid. Also had the bloody beef regularly- liked it too. As a kid the filipino side of my family would tell me "its chicken! Just eat it" lol. i tried a lot of new things that way, most was not chicken...

True on filipino moms making sure you had enough... they were always feeding me as much as i could eat and then some. haha.

i'm excited about this trip... for you peeps and for the dirt!

For those that are saying you dont have experience off road or you have stock vehicle or you have spacers- this is the perfect trip for you watch the video below, you'll be fine.

Want to get everyone opinion on bringing a giant towable grill. Is there a place to chain it up? Is there interest in doing this instead of waiting an hour for some restaurant that cant accommodate how big we are getting

Hahahaha! Wait til Marty checks back in here and sees we want a poll about whether to restaurant or pot luck!

Then if it's pot luck, he gets to list food sign-ups. :boink: :rofl:

I'm loving every minute of this, @McFly! Welcome to the P.T.S.A., Dad! See, everyone was just waiting on you to say "when".

I think this route is not too challenging for us to haul a bunch of picnic stuff in our truck beds; grills, icechest, camp chairs, EZ Ups.

I don't know what you mean by 'chain it up'? (Do you mean, leave it chained while we drive?) I think if we decide to cook and share food, we'd meet and run Cleghorn first, then convoy to wherever we could park 1.43 million trucks, BBQ, and potluck. We can BBQ then eat and hang out while the BBQ cools off. No need to chain it or leave it.

So... if we did this... now do we need bathrooms? If so, we need a local park with a lot of near parking ( :gossip: don't panic, Marty, this picnic idea can be redirected back on course for a restaurant if that's easiest... but... then, well... separate checks.... :goingcrazy:).

Anyway, if this doesn't answer your question about "chaining", LMK.

Duh. I just saw "towable" grill. We'll add that to the list of considerations. If we work this out, we should be able to work out @nishibot bringing his towable margarita maker!

It's a towable grill. I've never been on cleghorn trail but either way it's not mine so I idk if bringing it on the trail is a good idea which is why I'd chain it up. But let me see if it's available my buddy might already being doing an event that day. Seems like there is plenty of interest I will update soon
